  • [Project] 1988 camaro project

Hey everybody, I bought this '88 camaro back in college (9 years ago). It looked like this when I bought it:

After driving through 5 winters and a meeting with a deer, the car needed help so i stored it until last year when i started getting the means to get it fixed up. heres how it sits now:

I stripped the GFX and started to change the front bumper cover to mod it to what is in my sig. I have switched the interior from tan to black. The only thing different about my sig pic is that I plan on putting some Cragar SS rims on it. Let me know what you think! Thanks guys.

Thanks guys, I know some mods like that catch some heat, but i'm looking forward to doing something to make it unique. anybody have ideas on what be good to use to fab up the grille? I'm hoping to use something that's not mesh-like that is similar to the grille between the foglamps. maybe with less of a downslope... I'll probably have to hit some junkyards and get an old grille to work with.

Not yet, The sig pic is a different yellow camaro that i used because it was the color that i wanted and a cool angle to use for my mod idea then i used microsoft paint to change the front end. It was the only way i could get the picture in my head onto the computer. I've got some hand-drawn mockups. it should look pretty much stock from the side view because i'll leave the sides of the headlight buckets in place. I'll try to get some of the hand-drawn pictures scanned on here.

you can mod an old billet style aftermarket grill like the one's in the 85 S-10's like this one sorry so small.

then you will have bracing for the top and bottom to stop stuff from flapping around.

That actually looks pretty close to what I want. As long as that grill is long enough, it'd work pretty well. Thanks

Here's a pic of what my car interior looked like before:
                    old interior.JPG

Yeah, the tan had to go...This is the new Black interior being installed w/Ebony Ls1 seats:new1.JPG

Here's the new black rear plastics and carpet:
                    newrearint.JPG

Still need headliner and to finish modding my center console. Then interior should be pretty well set!

it should be almost to long depending on all of your angles.

Update: My dad and I spent the last two days swapping out the 3.08 drum rearend and installing a 3.23 posi and disc rear. We also put in an aluminum driveshaft from a 2000 TA. Just need to finish the breaklines. Can't wait to get it back on the streets!

its not really if you find a complete rear end to swap, if you part it together then yes its going to take a little time, but main its the following:

3 main bolts (LCA and panhard bar)
2 shock bolts (left and right)
3 brake line connections to remove (one at each side of the axle, and one mounting point a the "t" to the left of the pumpkin)
2 tires (5 lug nuts to each wheel)

not in that order, but it can be swapped and brake lines bleed in a saturday afternoon
