Patch panel created! 4 of 6 bolts to hold in place will use existing mount holes from the radio bracket/console mounts. Now I have to wait for it to dry...

Before and after. Not great, but better than the hole. If all else fails, I'll move the gauges down there. Hopefully the new panel matches better after the paint finishes drying. Fingers crossed.

I guess I'm so used to having a console, it'd be weird not to have one - but it looks real clean, great work!

My first attempt at a carb rebuild has been very educational... I'm definitely learning a lot about how they work and what can be changed or adjusted. Still in the process of getting it all cleaned up before putting it all back together. It's a rare carb Holley #3837 that was only used for one year on 68' chevelles with 396. It was on the 350 when I bought the car and always worked well so I'm keeping it on the 400 for now.
Unfortunately, a new vacuum diaphragm was not included in the kit so I'm waiting to hear back from Holley tech support on which one I need then I can get it back together and fire it up

Oh yeah...lots o' little parts. I have an old fiberglass cafeteria tray I rebuild these on. Keeps little check balls and stuff from rolling away.

Cleaned up all the parts and got it back together with new kit. Just waiting for the secondary diaphragm to be delivered and it'll be ready to go!

                    • Carb is back in and everything hooked back up. A good battery charge and it'll be time to hear it run.

                      • Hooked up the rebuilt carb, changed the fluids, charged the battery... car started and idled on first turn of the key! Will post startup vid later (keeps coming up "error" now)
