  • Tweaks underway and, like every other time it ends up on a lift, more shit comes apart then planned

Another pic of the melted tank episode. Still not sure how this happened yet....

    In place.....

Because of the apparent exhaust issue, decided to make a few "while we're at it" adjustments. One of the add-ons will be in the form of some SS shielding tacked to the pipes in areas of heat concern....pics later. My favorite is a serviceability mod. If for some reason I needed to drop a portion of the exhaust, decide to run the car without cats later, etc....it would be a major PITA. Enter V-band couplers....

Last but not least....K-member interference to oil pan, which, by this pic you can see rubbed a little prior to giving it a little clearance.

      • Damn, you're running cats on that monster? I thought they don't normally last on something with an aggressive cam? I REALLY want to put a set on mine but was always told it wouldn't work right.

Ive heard this exhaust without and it is LOUD! Havent heard the cat vs cam one before....but if they do go to hell, changing over to catless will be quick

Wow.....may be reeeeeaaallllly close. Still need to schedule/complete the front end alignment. Depending on how long it takes at the current shop, it might be tough to get it back in time.

            • Something about them overheating because of the fueling and such at idle with a big cam. I don't know shit about tuning, but I've heard this more than once. This is making me want to try it though. I want it both for the sound and so I don't stink of fuel whenever I drive it. Mostly the sound though.

                            • Example of the modified heat shields that exist over each cat and now where the pipes and tank get close....no good pics of the pipes by the tank. V-bands came out fantastic.

Pretty sure we've located ALL of the interferences this exhaust has had through the car. One of them was just over the axle at the inner fender flange. Correction required cutting the support strap between the pipes and putting in a shorter one to get the pipe off of the body. Now we're about a 1/2" clear...

Exhaust tip length was horrible on this system....maybe my "retentiveness", but the tips extended past the fascia a good 1" before....now tucked nicely. Fortuneately the car next me has the same system and tried to get a comparable angle to show the difference.

Kinsler taking a peek Thinking a clear cowl shield would look cool......
