  • so how will lowering springs affect the rest of my suspension? I've been told that once I install them, the stock shocks won't last very long...

i had an eibach kit and mine are fine. i could look threw my records from the previous owner on when they were last updated but the springs sagged before i had a shock issue.

My stock shocks went out shortly after after the Eibach ProKit springs got installed, I put in air shocks out back and I'm looking for a decent deal on some shocks for the front.

        • so I'm guessing that I should seriously be looking for some new shocks already too...any suggestions? again, this is mostly a summer DD with the occasional trip to strip/autocross car

            • Honestly, if I were you, I'd hold off on installing the springs until you get a decent set of shocks. Revalved Bilstein's seem to be the choice of most people who lower their vehicles, but QA1's are good shocks too. Whichever way you go, it's going to cost some coin, but the payoff will be in improved handling and ride feel. I still need to replace my front shocks, but replacing the worn out rear shocks made a WORLD of difference.

              • just dropped the Camaro off at the shop this morning to take care of the exhaust issues. It was actually completely painless, didn't have any problem. They were pretty understanding with the complaints I had and how to go about correcting them. I was pretty surprised.

Well since the car was up on the lift, I was able to get some pics of the way it looks now:

                  • I think the thing that helped me out the most is that I found a guy on LS1tech who built himself a pretty similar setup, only he did a much better job haha. I printed off a bunch of pics of it and showed it to the guy, so that seemed to help him out a bit.

                      • well the first is the rattling on the floorpan under hard acceleration. They're also straightening the driver's side pipe so it's right next to the passenger side. The pipes over the axle are hitting one of the stabilizer bars, and that one horrible weld on the muffler outlet is being replaced with an actual elbow. The tips also hung about 3" down from the rear bumper, so they're tucking those up tighter as well. They're also adding either an h-pipe or an x-pipe.

Here are the pictures I gave them:

only significant difference is that he has the dual electric cutouts (and his looks way better haha), but this is essentially what I'm expecting to end up with.

                              • I feel depressed that it's been more than a month since I've posted any sort of progress so I guess I'll just give a status update.

As I said before, I dropped the car off at the shop to get the exhaust problems taken care of. Well, over Christmas break I called to see how it was coming, and the guy hadn't touched it yet. One of his relatives passed away shortly after I dropped it off, and once the snow hit the shop really got swamped with work. He's doing it off the clock and I won't be driving the thing until May anyway, so I figured I wouldn't pressure him too much. I was just kind of itching to work on it a little bit over Christmas break, I have my SLP cold air intake and my UMI strut tower brace sitting in the back seat waiting to be installed.

I also want to make my engine bay look a little nicer. The silver CAI and STB will help with that. I also want to get one of those throttle body plates, I just haven't decided if I want to go black or polished for that. idk if polished engine bay stuff (like the plate or a radiator shroud) will look good with the silver intake/elbow and silver STB. I want to paint all the black plastic stuff (throttle body cover, cover for the weird throttle/cruise control thing, radiator shroud if I don't go polished) gloss black, like glossy enough to see your reflection.

I think for my next mods I'm gonna start focusing a little more on suspension. I'm thinking KYB AGX shocks and struts, I've heard good reviews from other forums and I've been told they take lowering springs pretty well.
