Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

So I got an extractor and a tap handle from O'Reilly today. Got home, took them out of their packages, and found that the extractor is too big (for the hole as well as for the handle). And I probably can't take it back either because of the packaging it came in.

Did my valve lash adjustment today. Still haven't gotten that fitting out of the intake manifold. My dad suggested getting a saw blade and cutting most of the way through the stuck part of the fitting. He also said that screw extractors don't work as well for stuff that threaded in pretty tight. I haven't had much luck with finding decent screw extractors anyway. Still figuring that stuff out.
I also started looking at removing the remaining EGR and AIR piping. That one bolt for the EGR tube is pretty difficult to get at. Any tricks for getting that out? And does anybody have any input for how they removed the AIR pipe?

?? I'm thinking I might cut the AIR pipe in multiple pieces to get it out. Is this necessary? And again, are there any tricks for getting that EGR pipe off? I can't seem to get a socket or an end wrench on it

Honestly not too sure - I bought headers so I didn't have to deal with it. But I think once you remove the AIR Pipes you can get a pipe plug for it and just plug the opening.
As it turned out, the screw extractor that I originally thought would be too big worked beautifully. I think I'm going to give the powdercoater a call though. I really struggled to get any of the fittings started, and this happened as well. I might see if he will try to clear some of the powdercoat from around those threads, hopefully that will help. Then, since I'm holding off on the opti, it's time to start putting stuff together!
I noticed that I need some sort of silicone to seal the front and rear of the intake mani. Do I need any special kind?

Are the intake manifold gaskets reusable? They seemed to be the reusable kind when I took them out. Same for the valve covers.

Valve covers are reusable, and intake manifold may be reusable but I'm not 100% sure. I know head gaskets are not. For the intake, I used high temp RTV. I remember the RTV we used was bronze-ish color, though I think regular black high temp RTV would be fine as long as oil won't affect it. I'd ask the guys at O'Reilly or Autozone.
painted my CAI and STB last night. here's a picture of my super-legit paint booth:
both got re-painted silver. That way now they'll be the same color and the scuffs on both will be covered.

after work today I'll be stopping by O'Reilly to pick up some thread chasers to clean out the threads on the intake manifold. Also, is there such a thing as a threaded female cap/plug? I would kind of like to use that on the AIR fittings on the headers rather than finding someone to weld them if possible.
