I couldn't really feel where the line from the back of the intake manifold goes to...the AIR pipe should be pretty easy to remove, it's pretty flimsy. I've had a hard time getting the AIR fittings off the headers though too. Gonna have to use some more WD-40 I guess

So I screwed up...I took a look at the my Haynes manual to see if there were torque specs on the rockers, and I found that it says to make sure you put the pushrods and rockers in their original places...yeah, didn't do that. How, well, screwed am I? How can I make sure each pushrod and rocker is in its proper place?

also, is it mandatory to do a valve adjustment when reinstalling the rockers?

Using all new lifters? If so, orientation doesn't really matter. I put the oil holes facing the rear facing the flow for poops and chuckles.
Rockers and pushrods should have stayed together, but I highly doubt it's going hurt anything. Each cylinder (one at a time) will need to be at TDC of compression stroke to properly set valve lash. There is a way to do 1/2 at one time and then rotate the crank in order to do the other half.

Baloney, me and my buddy did heads & cam in an MSU apartment parking lotOriginally posted by alone_and_insane View PostHow do you remove the crank pulley bolts without the pulley turning? I tried putting the car in gear, but that didn't work.
I'm actually seriously considering abandoning the effort to replace the opti. It's just to big of a job to do in my apartment parking lot, especially considering I'm not 100% sure my opti is bad.

Ok, let me rephrase it then. It's too big of a job to do in an apartment parking lot if I want to drive this thing to the Dream Cruise, especially considering I'm not 100% sure the opti needs to be replaced.Originally posted by JoeliusZ28 View PostBaloney, me and my buddy did heads & cam in an MSU apartment parking lot
Otherwise, I was feeling kind of lazy today and didn't do any more outside on the car. All I did was give the throttle body the same paint job as the alternator.Last edited by alone_and_insane; July 30th, 2012, 07:53 PM.

Disaster.
Tonight I was working on putting fittings back into the intake manifold while watching the Olympics. Then this happened:

I'm in a state of disbelief right now. I can't believe that happened...and I have no idea how the heck I'm supposed to be able to fix it...

Do you know what the hose that fitting is for goes to in the first place? I don't recall at the moment. If it's something I'm deleting I could just block it off and call it good.

Yeah I already figured out that hose is for the brakes, but that picture will be super helpful, thanks Brian.
So where can I get an easy-out?

O'Reilly or AutoZone should have something that would work. If not the local Sears or ACE Hardware store will.- Brian Meissen

Any auto/hardware store should have them. What concerns me is that it looks like it snapped down in the threads a little...try to find an easy out with a slight taper and not much larger than the opening so you don't catch the intake instead of the broken part
