1996 Camaro Z28 LT1 Project

I'm not talking E85 here, this guy's claiming that the regular pump gas is bad for fuel pumps.

Regular gasoline is classified as E10, or 10% ethanol. If not designed for it, any amounts of ethanol can hurt the fuel system. It is not as common with cars from about 1990 onward to have issues with E10, but it can still happen if it has been weekend by something else. I have also seen higher grades of fuel contain higher amounts of ethanol.

also, I plan on painting some of the badges on my car. What's the best way to remove badges without damaging them or the car's paint, and what's the best way to reattach them?

Removed the bowtie badge from the back of the car:





You can see that the red paint is coming off in some spots. Looks good from a distance, but close up, not so much. So here's the bowtie badge with the Z28 badge I've had sitting around for a while:





Sanded them to get ready for paint:





Then on to the silver paint:





Then finally, the decals:

How did you remove the badges? You didn't primer them?

The Z28 badge was never on the car (for some reason, when I got it, it had no Z28 badges at all, but it still had the red bowtie on the back). To remove the bowtie, I used a hairdryer to heat it up, then slid a very thin piece of cardboard behind it. I didn't prime, just did 3 coats of color and two coats of clear.

nice job they look really good.should be fine.i never used primer when i apinted my badges either.lasted a long time on my irocz.

You inspired me to get off my butt and paint my badges, cept I got excited and messed up painting them. Look fine from far but up close [x]barfs[x]. So I have them on temp will remove and sand down and paint again. Hahaha.

You know the nose bowtie is a removable emblem too right?

yeah I know. for that one I ordered a silver decal that I'll be putting over top of the red.

got my car out to its first show this year today. It was a BEAUTIFUL day, and a really good show. I took a bunch of pics, maybe I'll get them up later.

just got the call, tires are in! I'll be heading down to Madison to pick them up this afternoon.

295s, 275s, then the 255s that were on the car. I was gonna have them on the car today, but when I was changing out one of my rears, I found that one of my lugs is messed up. I'm going to have to change that out tomorrow before I can finish mounting the new wheels. I was also going to remove the bump-stops, but I discovered that they're both rotted out anyway
