havent even messed with it since parking it monday night. been too tired after working 10 hrs and an hour drive home. saturday looks like a nice day to work on it and test drive it. luckily a new tps is only $30 and i can probably get that at half that price. also i have another pressure control solenoid if thats the issue. im hoping one of these solve the problem easly cause i want to drive the thing. actually want to "relearn" to drive it, because its completely different car now lolsigpic

i know this is sometimes a dumb ? but did you guys put a trans filter back in it. we have seen a couple trans that someone left a filter out and its ok on light accelreation and normal driving but on a hard turn or acceleration it slips and acts like neutral. if you need a hand lmk.sigpic

its in there and i have an extra cause i was gonna change my fluid soon after getting it running again. i do need some help, i need you to ride with or drive the car and see what you think. today i got a ses light and after scanning got a tps code and knock sensor code which i thought tj disabled until i figured the problem out. i did try to reset the tps and possibly thats why it coded??? tomorrow im picking up a new tps and will see what that does. if that doesnt fix it im gonna drop the trans pan and swap out pressure control solenoids
it has to be electricalLast edited by Formula Z; April 7th, 2011, 07:51 PM.sigpic

Code is still there, he prolly just changed what it does and make it not turn on the light. A scan will still show it but the light prolly came on for the TPS stuff not the KS stuff.Originally posted by Formula Z View Postits in there and i have an extra cause i was gonna change my fluid soon after getting it running again. i do need some help, i need you to ride with or drive the car and see what you think. today i got a ses light and after scanning got a tps code and knock sensor code which i thought tj disabled until i figured the problem out. i did try to reset the tps and possibly thats why it coded??? tomorrow im picking up a new tps and will see what that does. if that doesnt fix it im gonna drop the trans pan and swap out pressure control solenoids

yeah tj emailed me back and said that even with line pressure maxed out, that he thought the shifts felt soft. said he did not adjust the sensor, but did adjust the blade by .050. here is his email.
Hi Mike, I did not adjust the TPS sensor but I did adjust the blade by about .050" is all. On the dyno the TPS was logging at a full 100% which means it was operating properly at that time. If you have access to a scan tool you can check this. If not a volt meter would work just fine, as you need to see north of 4.5v at WOT. The shifting felt soft to me as a whole even with maxing the EPC noid for full line pressure electronically.
If the TPS test comes out OK I would get a pressure gauge on the trans to make sure you are getting enough line pressure to function properly in all modes.
Keep me up to date, I am more then happy to give you pointers along the way.
so.......... what next? i did purchase a new tps but havent installed it yet as dustin is stopping by with his logger to see what the tps is doing. he is also bringing a pressure gauge for the trans so we will also figure that out. any other ideas????sigpic

well looks like the firebird will be down again and i dont know for how long. wasnt as simple as i was hoping. both the tps and pcs checked out. seems when the car is in drive (od) it wont shift or wont even move for that fact even with pressure. shifting from low, second to third it shifts good fine, maybe a little softer then it should, but shifts has to be a hard part inside the trans, something i missed. so dustin (alwaysmessedup) and i will be removing the trans and figuring it out once we can get some time on his dads lift. thanks to dustin for helping out today (I owe you) and to everyone following this thread and giving input and advice. im pretty depressed about the whole thing after spending this much effort, time, and money. ive spent money i dont have to get to this point and here i am again.sigpic
