  • heres one for you guys....

i removed the wiring harness completely from vehicle. i am thinking it would be much easier to get everything hooked up and double checked with putting the harness onto engine and trans then sliding it under and after everything is bolted in, connect whats left. sounds like a plan but whats the cons of doing it this way vs waiting til after the drivetrain is installed??

    • You'll have to disconnect everything and reconnect it once the engine is in the car?

Looking a bit snowy out BTW.

      • why and i know

snow south of grand rapids although according to weather. will be cold but roads should be fine. would be nice to be able to reference your car for the install if needed, but i understand if you dont make it.

hey vinnie my cousin robb is coming down later that day and hes from up there by you. he could possibly swing by and pick u up if you still wanna come down and hang out for a while. just let me know

        • I installed my engine/trans with the wiring harness attached to it all, just remember the routing so you have enough slack when you get back up to the pcm or you'll have issues like Spencer.

            • i looked it up and gm's manual says disconnect the pcm and a couple other things and lay the harness on the engine for removel so that is the easy and correct way to leave the harness with the engine and trans.. so your all good to go..

                • Ive done it both ways, its near impossible to put the harness on with the motor in the car. Hook everything up and lay the pcm, interior connectors, fenderwell connectors, and battery cables on the motor for install, and just connect those few things once its in the car and youll be good to go.

                      • lol damn! okay dustin, larry, and a couple others came by saturday and we got the car running. basically dustin and i started about 8:30 assembling the block, larry showed up around noon and started helping. i think we had the whole motor built and trans mounted and was putting it under the car by 5 ish??? im thinking it was about 9 when we crossed our fingers and turned the key. car fired up first start and ran perfect. there were a couple snags along the way but we managed. i still have a couple small things to do like install the y pipe and cutout and basically get it to the dyno tune next monday, then onto tires. i want to thank dustin and larry for all their help. it was fun. heres a couple pics and a couple videos. the audio on the video sucks bad for some reason but you get the point. open headers ftw! wife was complaining that windows were rattling and pictures vibrating on the walls lol.
