  • Did you ever resolve your starter heat-soaking issue? My cousin's LT1 is having the same problem. He says the replacement ones are junk, he's gone through two. His original one lasted to 120,000 miles

    • Had the same starter issues. Burned threw quite a few of them. Try hooking up a remote starter solinoid. Like $30.00 from summit racing. Haven't had a starting issue since.

      • I don't think the issue I'm having is the starter anymore. We got a replacement one via warranty and then protected it by a heat blanket and a solid metal heat shield from Summit. I think the Optima Red Top battery is just a piece of utter complete donkey dick horse shit. I pulled my car out of the garage yesterday into the driveway, started no problem. About an hour or two later, I went to move my car and the battery was dead. I had to use my jumper box to get the car to start - and it did as soon as I put the box on it which leads me to believe the battery is just not holding it's voltage at all.

          • Fred get a remote mount solenoid like mentioned, seems LT1s should have had them from the factory.

                • In my expreiance - all Optimas are crap for that matter. Had a yellow top (figured I'd have to pony up the extra for my stereo draw) and the thing was usless within a year. When back to an Autozone Duralast Gold - battery has been good for a while now.

                  • My only problem is that I vaguely remember having the same problems when I was running with my dad's battery...

                          • Fuel issue? That was fixed back in the beginning of the year by replacing the fuel pump.
