    • I've never had this problem before, but then again I've never had the rear cover off before. I'm hoping the fix is going to go smoothly but last time I dropped my trans with the motor in the car it took quite a while, at least the car starts right up and runs well it could have ben much worse.

      • Glad to see it up and running Jeff. Just one more demon it seems you have to fight with. On a positive note, at least you have to take the torque arm off anyway to install the new! If you'd like a hand in getting the trans out just give me a call, I'd be glad to help.

              • Thanks for the compliments guys the car was very loud but sounded amazing, I'm beginning to feel better about what went well as opposed to my small hiccups and I'm gonna start pulling the trans today. I just love listening to it over and over

                • Hey Jeff, congrads on startup. I'm glad you got it done before the little one arrived, as that will stall things for a while. The engine sounds awesome, I know your proud of the job, as we will be when Brians start up. I had goose bumps just reading the start thread because I know thats how we will be too. • ok. I was gonna say something if it was an eagle but you may want to check it anyway. Check and make sure it is dry in the center of the crank where a pilot bearing would go.

                        • I will do that, should there be a pilot bearing visible in the end of the crank??

                          • Do you still want me to come up there tomorrow and install our gaugepods or are you just gonna try to work on the trans? Either way I'm gonna come up and coat my headers. I just wanna make sure I have enough time cauz I gotta work.

                            • probably not. it would be in the area that pilots the torque convertor.
The ls cranks have a freeze plug like plug in the end of the crank behind where a pilot bearing would go.
yours maybe leaking. When i first got my eagle crank mine leaked but only with the car not running

                              • Yeah Mike you can still come on by. I am certain is has to be coming from the rear main or part of the crank because there is nothing running down from the top and there is oil inside the bellhousing. You can actually see some areas where the flexplate actually shot some oil out and that is the only place where a leak would even come close. I'll post up a pic of it when we get the trans out Larry. What is the best way to install a new main seal if that in fact is the problem? I have heard that its best to do with the seal dry and you can actually do it without removing the cover itself, what would you recommend?

Also the leak wasn't present until at least the second startup and it was leaking pretty good, about a 1/4 of a quart came out onto the ground.
