Something free for you to do that will help the looks of the engine compartment - Do the wire mod. I did it and it was easy. Made a huge difference in how mine looked:

Thanks guys! I think the black goes soooo much better with the car.
That does look really nice and clean! I would have to do something to fill in the holes though.Originally posted by LS1Formulation View PostSomething free for you to do that will help the looks of the engine compartment - Do the wire mod. I did it and it was easy.
I think I am in the minority here, like on LS1tech, but I like to see the wires.

I plan on using a new hose for that. Just waiting until I drain the coolant for the thermostat swap. I have heard of people using the coupler, and the weight of it pulls the hose down on to the accessory belt.Originally posted by Fbomb View PostYou can do the TB coolant bypass a lot cheaper and smoother than the BMR fabrication kit just by getting an entirely new coolant line. I did mine with a heater junction and a piece of fuel line for like $3, as compared to the kit's price of like $12+

I did the coolant bypass with a piece of brakeline and rubber ends. Looks nice and doesn't come anywhere near the acc belt. I'll get a pic of my engine compartment tomorrow - It has a few new things since that last pic

Just choose your new line carefully. I tried re-doing the whole thing with one line but found out that the nipple on the radiator's like 3/8" and the line on the block is 1/4". Could be that I was using fuel line though. But yeah, a longer line definitely helps to avoid the pulley on the water pump. I've got mine zip-tied to the upper radiator hose.Originally posted by Schuby87 View PostI plan on using a new hose for that. Just waiting until I drain the coolant for the thermostat swap. Thanks a lot! I am very happy with the results. The red calipers distracted from the overall theme, I think the black looks very subtle but still different.Originally posted by my95z28 View PostLoving the new calipers!!sigpic

No doubt, I always hate it when people paint their calipers red, and have nothing else red on the car. It doesn't flow well to me at all.

I am looking in to buying my 160* thermostat, but I see two different types. One that is just the thermostat, and one that has the thermostat as part of the neck.
Thermostat
Neck
I replaced my water pump two winters ago, but don't remember if I had to remove the thermostat from the neck.
Anyone have an idea?sigpic
