20lbs + 180* could equal a pretty fair amount of torque if you think about it. 20lbs puts the bolt tight in its threads, then a whole half turn on top of that. Thats near full torque. For the ls1's its 22lbs then 90* then 70*. Thats the complete torque sequence. Let me tell you thats damn tight, and a fair amount of work. I dont want to see you spend a cent more than nessisary on this Brian, trust me, im in the same boat. But I also hate to see this fail on you down the road ya know? Id deffinetly get some different opinions other than kyles and mine.
Why not call some of the gasket makers or the dealership?Last edited by sman; March 19th, 2009, 09:19 PM.1999 Camaro - 6 liters of fury.....

Putting it where I just covered the holes.Originally posted by Xx573v3xX_Z28 View PostI was thinking where the hell are you going to put the power steering box now?
I've been trying to figure out a good place to relocate the power steering reservoir hoping I'd find an "AHA!" spot but alas it just seems like more work than it's worth. The epoxy that I used said it's able to be tapped so we're just going to have to drill where the hole was covered and put the power steering on the fender - as much as I am trying to avoid it there's just no other good answer other than "get rid of power steering."
OK back to the head gasket, I'm going to suck it up and get over the fact that the design of the head gaskets effin suck that you can't reuse them if the engine has never been started and I'm just going to buy a new set - I don't want blown head gaskets.
Joel - do you know the part number for the impala head gaskets?- Brian Meissen
