Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!
If you have any problems with the registration process or your account login, please contact us!
I'm not Joel, but here ya go B. Head Gaskets
Although, I noticed that between the two by Mr. Gasket, one has a compressed thickness of .026 and the other .046. I BELIEVE that you want the .026, but Joel can probably tell you that. You should check with Creight, he might be able to get them.

Alright now I'm confused as hell. Shoebox said that there is absolutely no difference between the bolts from 1993 to 1997 and that they just changed the torque method in '96 to TORQUE-ANGLE, but they're not "Torque to Yield" bolts. He even recommends using the torque-angle method and says that's the better way to torque them down. This shit is confusing. So if it's not TTY and regular bolts that can be reused, and if we followed the torque-angle method, it SOUNDS like we might be OK and I don't need to do anything - don't even have to retorque.
Chiltons for a 95 When installing the head bolts, make sure the mark the short bolts to be sure the correct tightening specifications are achieved.
Coat the threads of the head bolts with GM 1052080 or equivalent, then install the bolts finger-tight.
Tighten the cylinder head bolts in sequence to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm), then tighten the long and medium length bolts an additional 80 degrees and the short bolts an additional 67 degrees.

Hmmm, im thinking after 96 all the bolts made were tty, and the tty bolts replaced the standard bolts as replacements in the GM part directory. Ill call and check.
Ok, my guy at the dealer shows the headbolts as the same from 93-97. Couldnt tell me if they've been replaced by another p/n recently, the data was unavailible. To be honest, if you got aftermarket ones(i think you did) then just use the instructions that come with those. If they dont come with them, id check on a more ltx based board. Id hate to steer you in the wrong direction.
As pissed as I am that I have to redo everything, I think it's good if we redo it and do it right. What sucks is that I probably won't be able to get my head gaskets this weekend so that means no bolting the k-frame into the engine bay this weekend.
B, if you got ARP head bolts then you need to follow those torque specs.
They should be in the box.
You should also use the assembly lube that comes with them to achieve the right specs that they give you .

That's what I read on CamaroZ28 too, Kyle, but my ARP bolts did not come with instructions nor any lube. I've read on CamaroZ28 that people followed factory specs with the ARP bolts and had no issues at all and that they used 10w30 motor oil as the lubricant.
And yeah, Spencer, I don't think Autozone or Murrays carries felpro or Mr Gasket gaskets in house, they're special order so it'll take 1 business day for most places to get them. If they have anything, it will be whatever their OEM replacement gasket is.
Edit: Pep Boys has the Fel Pro 9966PT gaskets in stock so I might swing by on the way home and pick those up if my dad doesn't buy a set at Murray's.

I was just going to say, the autozone by my house caries felpro, and if they order something they get deliveries 7 days a week. Let me know if you dont end up finding a solution.
Yeh, hopefully we can knock this out tomorrow rather quickly and get back on schedule. At this point I'm thinking about taking a few days off next week to get my car done.
