  • I haven't cleared it in the past but this time around I'm going to try it.

Here's the steps I plan to do:
    1. Primer
    2. Sand w/ 400
    3. Primer
    4. Wetsand 800
    5. If everything is smooth, continue to 6. If still problem areas, return to step 1.
    6. Red coat of paint
    7. Wet sand
    8. Red coat of paint
    9. Wet sand
    10. Clear coat of paint
    11. Wet sand
    12. Clear coat
    13. Wet sand
    14. Polish

    • Woah B! I didnt know you were going into that much detail! If I end up doing it there probably wont be much wet sanding, and for sure no polishing. Are you sure you still plan on driving this thing?

The clear coat will get hazy when you wet sand it the final time - so if you don't wet sand you won't need to polish. I might do the same - all depends on how the final coat really comes out.

            • Wow - what an unproductive day! We only got the LCA on the passenger side unbolted and the panhard bar unbolted.

We started working at 10am and it took my dad and I about an hour or two to get the nut off the bolt. Then we tried prying the bolt out of the LCA and we couldn't get it to budge. So finally we gave in and went to Home Depot to buy a Sawzall and some blades. Kyle came over before we got back and then we went out there with our new sawzall to cut the bolt out. YEAH... THAT SUCKED! Hardened bolts. Took forever to cut through. We cut between the LCA and the bracket for the bolts and in retrospect that was really stupid and made it take way too long. It took us like 1.5-2 hours to get through ONE side of the bolt and we had to make another cut so the lower control arm would fall out. On the nut side of the bolt it took a good 45 minutes but then it finally fell out.

Once we had the LCA done, we went to work on the panhard bar. That took another good amount of time - the rusted bolt fought all the way. We have it so just the end of the bolt is left holding the panhard bar in - we still have to take care of the brake line and the emergency brake so we're leaving the panhard bar still bolted in so it won't be as unstable.

So yep - all day today all we accomplished was two damn bolts.

We also noticed - thanks to Kyle pointing it out - that the rear end that Russ had already HAD a LCA relocation bracket on it. So... I have a UMI LCA Relocation Bracket for sale if anyone wants one.

                  • Did it just have a bracket on one side or both? And I'm guessing that they are bolt on ones that you want to sell?
