I wouldnt imagine you would want 3.73's on a turbo car anyway.

I'm going to try it and see what happens. I have another complete axle w/3.42's waiting in the wings.

3.73s arent going anywhere, at least until the rear needs replacing

it means the convertor can't fully couple with the torque. So it continues you to all the way down the track.
