  • I never claimed my car was quiet....just not as loud as I expected...lol

Actually it's a lot quieter than my old headers merged to 4" with open cutout. I can drive down the road and have a conversation with my passenger. The turbo really eats up a lot of noise

My car still needs to be tuned (hoping to find some time this weekend) but I'm sure we could arrange for you to hear it very soon...

    • rule of thumb is to not go smaller than the turbine flange so if its 3" then you can run 3" all the way out the back if youd like, or go bigger.

      • you'd be fine with 3" but, I'm sure you could pick up some HP if you stepped up to 4" somewhere along the way.

        • What I have been thinking about doing is like was said above. Run 3" out past the starter and then step it up to 4". Do you think this will help? Then I was thinking about running 1 or 2 of the bullet mufflers just to keep it tame. I like to stay as low key as possible. Stealth ya know.

          • I've seen a 4" downpipe pass through by the bulkhead A/C box. Your way would work fine too.

            • Waste gate is on, and I am working on the exhaust now. I am gonna run with the 3" to a QTP cutout and then a bullet muffler with a turn down.

                  • OK I guess I'm getting banned. lol

So last night was just one of those nights where I just got frustrated with the exhaust project. Things just weren't lining up the way I would have liked them to. I will post a pic of the waste gate today.

                    • Well, I haven't gotten much done on the car lately. But I do have an excuse, ya see I have ben looking for a DD for a while now. And I found this 86 IROC down in Ohio, I was gonna buy it, But I bought the 99 Z in stead. So last weekend my brother and I went down to Ohio and he bought the 86. This thing is mint and it only has 19K miles on it. Not a bad deal if you ask me.

                      • the only thing that isn't stock on the 86 is the fog lights. It even came with the stock radio.

                            • Tonight I built the exhaust out of the engine compartment. I think it looks pretty good, but I will have to plum the waste gate dump into the exhaust, and I have to weld in 3 O2 sensors. I have been working a little bit on wiring, and I think I might be getting close, but I still have a lot to do on the car. I will be working on the cold side of the turbo system this week. I need to get the intercooler mounted, then I can get to work on the tubing and blow of valve. I think I have all of the tubing I will need for the rest of the cold side. So, I will be getting to work on all this stuff this week and hopefully his thing can make some noise in the next couple of weeks. I really wanted this thing done by now but its a pain in the ass as a one man show.
