  • My car is a 99 as well. Should just drop right in I would think? Looking to do sooner rather than later!

    • I cant make any promises on timing (I have waist deep snow right now and can't even walk to my barn) but I would be willing to swap bucket w/ racetronix and hotwire for your bucket + $100

I found something that said the fuel senders might be different (different ranges for full vs empty) but we could always swap those if we had to.

      • Sounds like a plan to me Dave! Keep me in the loop!

        • A large box full of suspension parts showed up last week. Had a crazy week, my Yukon got some love, had an enormous amount of side work, etc. But hopefully tomorrow or tomorrow night after work, we can get some of these tubular goods installed

          • So, my poor neglected car hasnt been touched in forever, been on the hoist for weeks now. Nitrous-untouched, suspension-still in boxes, oil still needs to be changed, car needs a DEEP cleaning.....

I need to get with Dave, whom I have completely forgotten about...

I have done a ton of reading about how to measure pinion angle and what to set it at, and all ive done is confuse my self more. Whats the best way to do it? For my mostly street, occasional track use car, what should my pinion angle be?

            • -2 degrees from the ground at ride height. Thats the way Madman does it and thats the way we've always done it on Jeffs car.

              • pinion angle is literally just that, the angle of the pinion in relation to the ground. The calculations people do using the driveshaft angle ect. is called driveline angle. If you have a poly mount then I would recommend putting the car on a level surface and setting the pinion -2 degrees (pointing down toward the ground). This compensates for the flex in the mount from the pinion attempting to climb the ring gear on a hard launch. If you had a solid joint then sometimes even zero will work best.

This is a method that works well for me but I am more concerned about how the car leaves off the starting line than I am concerned with u-joint wear or the quietness of my driveline components, just something to keep in mind.

                • -2 from the rocker angle

                  • Ok, so, I know I cant be the only one who is too fat so slide under the car and measure while its on the ground. Even putting it on jackstands cant guarantee its level right?

4 post comes in handy sometimes. if you put it on stands and load the suspension and measure off the rocker as larry suggested that should work.

                      • do not put it on jack stands and do it. it does not distribute the same load on the suspension that way

if i recall you have a 2 post lift. put it on that and set all 4 wheels on a set of blocks or something to keep it up high enough for you to get under it. or see if u can find some one with a drive on and adjust it

                        • I have 2 sets of Rhino ramps that I use. I jack up the car then set it on those. Works great because they're identical in height so the car will be level if the ground is level. I measured and referenced the rocker too just in case the ground wasn't level.

                          • Yea, I have a 2 post, only downfall of the damn thing.... I know I have a set of ramps, I think my dad got the same ones for christmas too, Ill see if I can come up with 4 matching ones.

                            Thanks for the ideas guys!

My bucket has been hacked to fit the Walbro 400 but I still have the fuel pump and hotwire if you are interested. I even have a brand new fuel pump flex tube and filter sock I will give you

                              • Depending on which way you calculate it - the car doesn't have to be level.

Using Larry's method the rocker angle could be -2* so the nose is 2* down, then set the pinion at -4* so it's -2* from the rocker.

Mike/Jeff's method require the car to be level.

Everyone has an opinion of what is best - find out what works for you. My car the pinion points up to get the driveline angle correct - which MWC recommends using the driveline angle calculation.
