  • avoid texas speed....

Back in march i placed a large order with texas speed for my exhaust system. Well since if somewhat warm out i had ken at sniperperformance put the exhaust system on the car. So far the biggest set back has been the headers, when I order all the parts back in march. I pulled everything out of the boxes and every thing looked like it would fit.
Saturday night i get a call from ken saying the headers are not fitting. we checked part numbers with the invoice and what was on the box.. comes to find out the headers texas speed sent me were for a 99-11 chevy truck.. so there's no way in hell there gonna fit. i bought texas speed 1 3/4 stainless headers... When I called texas speed on monday the guy that answered the phone was really irrogant, told me theres nothing they can do other then to send them the incorrect headers back then once they receive them they'll send me the correct ones.. 2 things pissed me off... one the we wrapped the headers so i'm out the $100 bucks for the header wrap, and two, the car will have to sit for 2 weeks untill the next headers came. also i'm being charged for the car to sit because ken has another customer waiting to get in. also i had to by more header wrap and coating... in order to speed up this process i bought another set of headers from texas speed because i really like the quality and afforablity of there products... i asked for 3 day shipping and asked if they could cover it, because of there mistake how much more this is not gonna cost me... TSP would only cover 20 dollars of the 70 dollars it cost to 3 day ship the headers here.. on top of all of that rather then send the headers to ken directly they had to send the headers to the billing address so now i have another 30 mile trip to lennon... plus i had to buy more header wrap and spray cus they wouldnt cover the cost of that either... When TSP sent me the tracking information it ofcourse was after they closed for the day because that's when there computer softwear sends items out... the a-Holes send the package UPS Ground estimated to be here friday.... when i talked to the owner of texas speed yesterday he refunded me $50 dollars for the cost of shipping, and was very apploigentic, but that still doesnt discount the fact there because they ****ed up, it's going to cost me in the end $1300 dollars more then what i planned for... never again will i ever buy product from texas speed again... worst customer service i've very seen.

As of today its been 3 days since I was told my shipping money would be refunded... that has yet to happen.

sounds like the owner is trying to do the right thing, hopefully he fires his employee for being such a douche bag to you. As far as the refund, if you paid CC dont forget things have to process and can take 3-15 business days (business days) dont forget are m-f usually 9 to 5. Give it at aleast 7 days then call back to check on the status. In the end getting upset, stressed and pissed off doesnt do you any good and isnt going to make the process any quicker.

So trying to solve a problem with a calm cool head is always best. Sorry to hear about the set back never the less.

I'd have to honestly say it sounds like the only thing Texas Speed did wrong here was send the wrong product. Happens all the time at every company that has high volume of sales. They said it'd be no problem to send you the right headers, and their policy sounded fair, as long as they covered the shipping.

The wait time, fact that you wrapped the headers, etc..... is all your problem. It's not their fault that your car is sitting at Ken's either.

Yes it does suck, but this does not justify an entire thread for a company that made a simple mistake. I'd be willing to bet if we heard a recording of the phone call the customer service rep was nice until you became mad at your own situation.

On a finishing note, I've had nothing but wonderful customer service from all the guys at Texas Speed.

Its wasn't just the fact of the wrong part sent. Its just the way they handled the problem, customer service side.
Founders dose the same thing. I'm not saying they needs to pay everything or anything at all. but as a person who trys very hard for customer service they could have at least replaced the header wrap. or maybe next dated the part, or heck even a simple $50 credit.
I mean why should a customer have to pay for a company's mistake. 3 fold.
Its they way they handled the problem. Big corperation or not they should have a quality control standards in place for shipping also.

fair enough, their mistake granted, they should have paid for the return shipping of the wrong product and a credit of/or new free header wrap.

            Just to clarify something....

"we checked part numbers with the invoice and what was on the box.. comes to find out the headers texas speed sent me were for a 99-11 chevy truck.."

Did the box you received clearly say the part# for the 99-11 truck and it didn't match the part# that was on your invoice?

I'd love to answer that question myself but all the boxes where opened And pretty tattered when I got them. He recieved the parts back in march the way I understood it. I when I found the problem I called him and asked for the part number he ordered and search the box to compare it to what I had. And no the box didn't have a clear part number. There was about five stickers on it all with differant numbers, I had to Google each number till I found the right number.

cause if they box said "99-11 chevy truck" I personally would have not wrapped or even opened the box. Also if the box matched the invoice, maybe it was ordered incorrectly, therefore TS sent what was ordered.....On the flip side, maybe TS packaged the wrong headers in the correct labeled box for the correct vehicle.

part number matches the website, and if the invoice matches the box, then I would say it was a TS issue that boxed truck LT's into the camaro LT box.

This is the truck header part number, which is what closest matches the box shown above:

Bottom line is that someone screwed up. Personally, I have bought from them twice and didn't have a single problem. Haven't heard anything negative on ls1tech either. Everybody screws up sometimes, unfortunately it fell right on you.

To be fair - you'll rarely ever hear negativity on LS1Tech... Their sponsors pay big money for any negative reviews to be swept under the rug.

They made a mistake, it happens. I hardly think anyone should be fired for it. I agree they should have paid for 2-3 day shipping for the replacement, but asking for labor/storage fees is excessive IMO. I've had this exact thing happen to me with Hooker LT's from Summit and it was no big deal. Most shops I've dealt with in the past would work with me in this sort of situation, and the shop that had my car at the time did. The car can always have the wheels thrown on and pushed outside if it's in the way.

He wasn't asking for anything like payment of my fee's that's been handled. Payment for header wrap or next day mail on new part. maybe a $50 credit. But he even payed for his own next day shipping on the new part and they didn't even ship it that way.

On another note I did find a recent ls1tech thread where other are having the same issue. and there saying the headers where the correct part but there checking there jig to see why so many of these headers won't fit.
