Well my opti spark started giving me fits this year and I want to replace the whole thing. I put a new cap and rotor on it 3 yrs ago but it's misfiring again. Just fishing for opinions on which one to buy. I was leaning towards the msd one but I've read some bad reviews. So now I'm on the fence between that and a new gm one.

Ive yet to have an issue with a delco opti in the 10 years I've owned my car. One of mine is even still being used after I threw it across the backyard thinking it was the problem
my car sees high rpm quite a bit too.

That's the scary part. I'm not fully convinced its the dist. It's almost like the tps is screwing up cuz if it's missing all I have to do is feather the throttle or go to wot and the miss goes away. Need to hook a genesys up and check it out

Have had an MSD cap and rotor on my car for two years now with not problems. The optical pickup in the oem unit that was on the car took a crap, so I got a chandler opti this spring and put the msd cap and rotor on that(with a little work to try and correct its distaste for high rpm), with a 6400 limiter and shifting right at it, it is still going strong.

If its missing under throttle at low rpm it could be plug wires.Originally posted by jrkirkpa View PostThat's the scary part. I'm not fully convinced its the dist. I had an MSD on a couple different LT1s, same distributor for about 6k miles, changed the cap and rotor in the last 1000 miles though. No issues. Regardless of what you buy I'd take it apart and put threadlocker on the rotor screws2015 Silverado

Do not get the MSD Opti. Just personal experiance but the one I had in my 96' seized up and ended causing the pin in the cam to bend... probably won't happen to you but why risk it?sigpic

24x will cost you a LOT more, no matter how Dutch you are...Originally posted by QuickTop View PostSomeone correct me if in wrong. But isn't a 24x conversion within a reasonable budget. If you're replacing the opti.
