I don't get it. I took mine out (heater and all) and I never pulled the engine. Is it really that much harder on an LS1?

Mine is by no means a race car but living in Southern Cali, I have the top down 95% of the time so the A/C is pointless to me. It cleans up the engine bay so much and working on the passenger side of the motor is sooooo much easier (spark plugs, headers, valve covers). Idk sure it's going to hurt resale, but my car is so far gone custom now what's one more thing going to hurt?

we are talking about cutting the box out in the engine bay flush with the firewall

couldn't you just pull the condenser, compressor, and lines out and not cut the box. That way it may not free up as much space but at least you can always put it back if you wanted and it doesn't require engine removal?

seems like the most logical solution to me then, clear up some space, drop weight and its reversible

idk who you are making the suggestion too, but i think that firewall piece is a good chunk of the weight you can cut. I also have no intention of ever reinstalling mine, so im not worried about that.

the box being gone actually seems to free up the most space. I can get to my number 8 spark plug super easy now. Plus I didnt like how bulky that thing looked
