Nice Job James!! This option looks much cleaner!!Originally posted by WMCCjamesProgress seems to be slowing down somewhat.
Here you can see it better, it's on the bottom side of the block passage on the driver side...Here you can see the pump back on the motor showing the new steam vent location

Thanks for all the words of encouragement guys!
Here are some pictures of the oil pressure bypass cover that I modified to use with oil temp sender. This was a piece of cake to do...anyone who is thinking about adding an oil temp guage (highly recommended) to thier LS1's, this is the way to do it.
Here is the stock cover

Here is the sender mounted in it after I drilled and tapped the housing out for a 1/8 NPT

Check out the NMP logo on the back of the housing. That stands for Nelson Metal Products...I used to work for them when the design for the LS1 was underway. I was on an engineering team that actually developed the two piece Y-body (corvette) oil pan. I wish there was a way I could have fit that Y-body pan on my car...it's an awesome piece...plus it would be kinda fitting too

Everything looks incredible, James!
I really appreciate the attention to detail you've taken through this whole swap.
It's exciting to me that you're taking one of my favorite cars in the Club, and making it even better.
...........
But, you're making my stock '85 IROC-Z look pretty wimpy.
RIP Doug,You will always be remembered

Thanks Doug, that really means alot coming from you! Hey, I have a really cool idea (or at least I think it's cool)....I was thinking for next year's Autorama, maybe we could arrange it to have both of the IROC's in it sitting side by side.....stock and modified! That would be an awesome display!!Originally posted by WMCC DougEverything looks incredible, James!

Hey James,
That thought crossed my mind, too. But, hopefully I'll be putting Project DZ74 in Autorama, and I'm not sure I want to deal with having two cars in the show at the same time? Let's see how things are a year from now.RIP Doug,You will always be remembered

Looks Great James!! Is oil in constant circulation with your sensor location? Just wondering as you called it an "oil pressure bypass cover" If so that is a great idea I might have to do (oil temp gauge) when I add a tranny temp gauge in the future.:reidneer2:

Hey Greg..yup oil is in constant circulation pass that location...take a look at the oil flow diagram below. FYI...corvettes use that same bypass cover for their oil temp. It is super easy to do...literally took my 5 minutes to drill tap and re-install. I call it a bypass cover but it's more commonly referred to as a diverter plate I believe.

so you are going to the Dust Off for 2007 right? And wow does it make me sick to see that your car underneath is cleaner than the outside of most people's cars on the road, and you you drive your car alot from what I understand. Do you have a lift in a wash bay or something?
