Ive lived here for 14 years now so I got it pretty much figured out. When are you usually in the area? Weekends or what? Im really shooting to have this rapped up and to the tuner by the end of February at the latest.

Just got off the phone with my tuner about head work and stuff actually, he cant wait to get in on the project. Pulling the heads tonight and should be picking up the intake tomorrow. Things are getting exciting!

awesome project man. Im curious how much the whole swap is gonna cost you when its all done.

side note - i think a stock 5.3 swap in a v6 car would make an awesome daily driver.

but i bet you are mad that its not me doing the swap joel!!! haha

Sounds like a great project sman, i have a 5.3 at my house too that i was planninig on swapping into my car too and make a 327...but never did, i didnt a little reseach about it but am interested to see how it goes so make sure you take lots of pics and remember all the info!! I know if you do H/C to the motor you will see around 400 prolly!

did you find out if its a 5.3 or 4.8 yet? I remember i found out because one has a flat piston on top and one doesnt, i think the 4.8 is flat but cant remember right.

I did bookmark this for some reason tho when i was researching dont know if it will help.

Updated progress, heads are off along with the valley cover, I else I had planned on doing was the pan to swap them out and the timing chain cover when I put the new cam in. Buuuuuut, im realy kinda bummed at how dirty this thing is, in the valleys not a real nice place, it just sat for so long, I think im going to finish disassembly and take it to a machine shop and just give it to them and tell them to make it assembly ready.

                    Sigh......

Got the balancer and pan off last night, and started to clean up the heads, there cleaning up nicely its just so time consuming.

Biggest update is my cam choice, Im going to go with the ls1 hot cam an ls6 springs. I know the cam isnt all that big but I dont want anything huge, Im shooting for driveability and gas mileage, and a little bit if that cool lopey idle. Also its cheap, alot cheaper than anything else out there. This is not a drag car it is my daily driver rain or shine may through november so it all has to work and run like a top in all situations.

If it really turns out to be to small I can go bigger next year, but my primary focus now is to get the engine in the car and still have enough left over to finish this year of college.

If anyone knows anyone with a hot cam trying to get rid of it please let me know.

Must have been an engine dyno. If it were a chassis dyno those are close to stock LS2 numbers...
