I still think the s60 is the best bang for the buck especially if you don't plan on swapping gears all of the time . Plus you get 35 spline axles standard . I have the s60 in my hawk , i plan later down the road to put one in my chevelle .

Did either of you order anything custom on yours? Curious if tapered bearings is an option.

The original Dana 60 had tapered bearings, actually I think every rear axle came with tapered bearings

Joel, give Carl at CRP a call and discuss some options. He can build you anything you want and always has awesome specials on S60's. He will discuss with you your options, answer any questions you have, give suggestions, and if you tell him I sent you I am sure good pricing as well

I started collecting parts for the 8.8 conversion. I have a donor 8.8 housing, a donor 10 bolt housing. Just need to get back on that and get the axles, gear set and start the work on it. Kind of got sidetracked with that whole building a horse barn & getting married last year.

Joel - There are options. MWC base package is like $3000 shipped but that's with a spool. http://www.midwestchassis.com/fabricated-9-pricing.html - MWC is slow you'll be waiting until summer for a setup if you buy it today.

The quick performance housing is another option - http://www.quickperformance.com/QP-G...xles_p_55.html - I've bought a lot of stuff from him and would consider his housing if I had to do it again.

There was another cost effective option as well that someone on this site was using. Seems they were out of Wisconsin or Minnesota. Nice looking unit at a good price.

Either way I think you'll be happy.

CRP is in Kansas. Shipping is not bad!

Also the service Carl provides is bar none better than any of the other competition. FYI I will receive no kick back from this, just trying to help guide you in a good direction where I know you will get the product you want for the best price along with customer service to back it

Service is important. Like Jeremy said about MWC taking forever thats part of the reason theyve already been crossed off the list. Jon contacted them with questions and they were not good about answering. Theres a good chance our business will go to the same vendor unless i find something used.

Some of the circle track shops should be able to build you a 9" far cheaper than the typical suppliers. I've seen a few people using Speedway Engineerings floater housings and they can customize the mounting system. Personally I would never throw something as heavy as the S60 in a car that sees frequent turns.

There are also a few people with threads on FRRAX where they had the same requirements.
