Checking in, I've been talking to Joel about this quite a bit. I blew my 10 bolt and should probably order something so I will have it in by spring. I have a h/c/I 404 ls2 w/ t56. Will likely put nitrous or another power adder on at some point.
It looks like there's only 2 good options for me:
    Mwc fab 9", s-trac, 35s, w/ a tq arm(body mount) and back brace, ends up being ~4300$shipped
Or S60 w truetac ends up being ~2500$.
The 9" will be 20-60 lbs lighter, they probably are comparable in parasitic loss.
I think it would be terrific to cut that weight but it just seems like too much money especially figuring that I would need a driveshaft and tires as well.

To be honest the s60 is looking like an attractive option for both of us, but at the same time, in Joel's shoes I might consider a rebuild once.

    Check out my FQuick!

Both should look at the CRP New Fab9. I run one in my car and the quality, construction, and options for it is amazing! Price is up there but it will be something you won't have to worry about and will get you everything that you want!

are you using DR at all? If so I would just go for the S60 or 9.

He's had DRs for several seasons. How that 10 bolt survived this long is beyond me...

A fab 9 is clearly the best thing out there right now. But 4k? I dont see the value and ive got my sights on a trailer vehicle as well. The engineer in me is all about the lightweights, but im not trying to build some kind of championship winning car here.

Fabbed isn't needed. You can get moser 9 housings
for like 850. 28 spline have gone 8's. Add your carrier and center for about $2800 total

Yea, what he said. You do not need a fabbed housing. Go with the 9in. Tons more options for components, cheaper. and more readily available. There is a reason why the 9in is way more popular than any other style. Have you looked used at all? I picked up a complete moser 9in for my 3rd gen for $700. Complete with brakes, auburn posi and 4.10 gears ready to go.

Yeah i agree it was a steal just not the right one for me. I want a bigger gear too thats part the reason for spending the dough on a stronger axle.

My car is still drivable now, maybe watching craigslist for a while is a good idea.

Is the torque arm mount an issue on the M9? Honestly it looks kinda janky compared to the s60 setup and like there may be clearance issues...

You don't need the gold plated special. If your stock rearend has held up this long you don't need anything crazy special.

I agree but i would like to run a stickier tire at some point. My last trip to lapeer my best 60 of the day with a new clutch and suspension was only a 2.2 lack of traction is what has kept that axle in one piece.

9 inch, fabbed isn't needed. Call DTS and see what they can get you hooked up with

Im still on the fence about the 9" i think it will be more parasitic than the s60 due to the pinion offset. I think it will come down to what level of customization is available for the 60.
