might have found a nicely built up shortblock that I am thinking of swapping in since I am doing this work anyways. Stay tuned. Have to work out some more details on it to see if I want to go that route our leave my stock bottom end in

As I always say..you can do it right, or do it over. If you're doing an all new top end, might as well build up the bottom to match. More $ but you won't have to worry about stuff breaking.

yep, if you read up on fullthrottlev6 a guy over there (grimm) who had a zzp stroker motor just broke his crank. rest of the engine is now useless. build it strong enough so you dont break something that will ruin the rest of the motor.

Guess what...no more stock bottom end for this car. Just bought a race ready built up 3.8l shortblock from Abbott Racing out of TX. Oh boy Should help me safely hit 11s.

Here is the new engine setup I will be running this summer:

              Abbott Racing Stage 3 heads
              Abbott NA Cam (210/220 @ .050 .512 intake/ .512exhaust 112 lobe separation)
Holden VS intakes (lower ported to match heads) from Australia
MLS cometic head gaskets (.052" 4layer)
align boring the mains with new main studs
              turning the crank
              torque plate honing the cylinders
              L36 rods with beams polished
              ARP rod bolts
              CompCams OE-R lifters
CP pistons (high compression, around 10:3)
new ring set with steel top rings to handle BIG shots of nitrous
              new rod/main/cam bearings
the balance shaft hole is blocked, and assembled
              Double Roller Timing Chain

maybe with some LT headers on there, stall, and tuning. Also need a good set of DRs.

                          • Sounding like a bad @$$ setup.... the bottom end on the 3.8 is stout, but i like the route your going, because it'll be reliable, and you won't have to worry about it. What are you doing as far as rear end, and gearing for it.

I already have a 3.42/LSD rear end that I have been running. I also have a TA performance rear end girdle and stud kit for some added strength
