Looks like Project: "Holden Your Breath" takes the cake. Hints at what is under the hood without being obvious.------------------------------------------

well I started tearing into the engine today. Tried putting the stock fbody fuel rail on the holden intakes and it is a no-go.
The FPR bumps the side of the upper intake and the rail that goes behind the intakes runs into the vac line hook ups on the back side of the intake.
Time to try some other things. I have the holden fuel rail and it has the hookups in the rear of the fuel rail and not on the side like the fbody one. I will post pics later, I am going back out to remove the stock fbody intakes now so I can test the holden intakes under the hood.

Tore into it earlier today, found two nice tears in the gasket between the upper and lower intake manifolds. hmmm...interesting find there. lol. So I have most of the sensor wiring all labeled and removed from sensors. Upper intake and tb are off as well as fuel rail and coil packs. The lower is loose in the pics, but the stupid coil bracket is holding it on due to a bolt on the back of the engine being a pain to reach. I am taking a break right now, I will go back out after dinner.
Here are the pics, in the pic of the gasket it is blurry but you can see the two tears. Also in the pic of the upper runners you can see the brown lines where the rip was.
Stay tuned later tonight I will have pics of the holden fitment.
Man I hate the way the engine is so far back, my knees hurt trying to hunch over for long periods, lol.------------------------------------------

hmm, ran into some issues with the holden. First is clearance from tensioner assembly and alternator mounts. Then there is only 9" total to the cowl and the VS holden intakes are 9.25" tall. So I need to come up with a way to knock off .25 from the top and also clear the tensioner assembly. Oh the fun of being a trailblazer and trying new things that have never been done. lol. Here are the pics, and the last is of the holden and the issue with clearance by the tensioner

hmm, interesting. I will have to look at my brothers 1999 bird and see if it is different and if so enough room for it to fit. That would be nice.Originally posted by GETGONE View PostI wonder if the later 3.8 accessories would work better. My alternator is high and farther to the passenger side above the valve cover and the belt tensioner is in the middle of the head on the passenger side.------------------------------------------

looks like it is the same too me. Look at my first pic of engine bay before tearing into it. Doesn't look like it is much different if at all------------------------------------------

I will still look at my bro's and see if there is a difference. Someone on another forum mentioned that gtp's might use a different bracket as wellOriginally posted by GETGONE View PostIt just looked way different with the intake torn off and I didn't see the mount bracket for the alternator on the pass side. I thought maybe they had rearranged the accessories when they went to the straight intake/tb.------------------------------------------

alright, I figured out what I need to do to gain clearance under the cowl. I will just put in .5" spacers on the kmember when I swap over to the new engine that is being built. That will lower the engine down .5" for me and give me the clearance as well as some wiggle room for when the engine twists------------------------------------------

Spacers on the K member are going to throw off the alignment and raise the front. I'm guessing it will throw off the geometry of the suspension as well since the lower A arms will now be .5" lower and they will have to move up farther to mount to the shock towers. That's probably gonna give you some pretty nasty negative camber.

looks cool, it might be a huge pain in the ass, but what about a tubular k-member? i needed to lower and move my motor back as far as possible, so i bought an AJE tubular k-member but i ordered it with out any motor mounts and uncoated. i ended up making some pedistal motor mounts that lowered the motor as much as possible and set it back some.
if you were to do something like we did, it would open up TONS of room and not mess with anything else...just a thought?1998 Camaro SS Bullseye Turbo
