Wanted: 70s-80s k-series pickup

Sounds like a winner to me!

If you don't trust your friend to inspect it, a buddy of mine bought a truck in a similar situation many years ago and paid a local mechanic a small fee to inspect it. After the mechanic gave it the green light, he threw a couple hundred bucks at the shop in terms of replacing belts/hoses/bulbs and a quick adjustment of the carb, and it was ready for us to drive home cross country when we flew in. 800 miles is no short trip, might be worth it to consider something like this and a cheap one-way flight if you're reasonably sure you want to buy it.

So I have a friend who lives 800 miles from here that just found a beautiful all-original K10 with a 4 speed, 100k miles on it. Its on the very high end of my budget, but im thinking it might actually be worth a road trip. And its stock so it'll fit in my garage. Ive got some hard thinkin to do....

joel i have 4" lift 47's at my house and lots of blocks if you buy something stock and want it lifted.

Having a change of heart on the K10. Doing some more research and i think i want a k20 or k30, it sounds like the k10 will be marginal at towing unless its a heavy half. And now im starting to lean toward a SM465 as my preferred transmission, but a TH400 is good as well. Does anyone know if a TH400 has a lockup converter?

Saw this one. 79 is one of my favorite years but its brown, half ton, and 203 t-case which id have to convert to part time.

That color scheme with the silverado package... good price too, i might give this one some thought. Really too bad someone had to go and put a nasty body lift on it!
