Ive run into my first problem. The insurance policy (collector, agreed value) i planned on using wont let me use the truck for trailering. That defeats the purpose of me buying this since i plan on pulling a boat and a motocross trailer. Does anyone know if grundy or hagerty would be ok with this kind of use?

This is why I dont get why people use grundy or hagerty. I have a agreed upon policy with my insurance for my camaro. No questions asked do what you like with the car and bam done. Call your normal insurance and ask them if they offer it, if not change.

Just buy an old trailer and list it as a vintage tow rig

                    Hagerty:

                    Flexible usage

With no fixed mileage restrictions, you decide how you want to use your classic truck.** Hauling and towing can even be considered on a limited basis.

                    • A lot of folks go with Grundy or Haggerty simply because it's cheap. I have Red Alert insured for $25,000, Angie's Firebird insured for $7500, and then MSRP value for the Chevy Traverse and 2014 Camaro. Year round coverage, unlimited miles, etc - $2400 a year. Would be cheaper but Angie has an accident on her record (she was rear ended, but it's still flagged on the record) and I have a speeding ticket.

No cheaper then agreed upon value through a normal insurance company as well. I have my Camaro insured agreed value $10k for $450 a year

                        • Grundy is looking like an attractive option right now. Theyre really cheap and although they dont allow towing either my coworker uses them for his K5 and they allow him to switch to a regular policy for a few days if he needs to tow a trailer. Not the ideal scenario but it could work. Hagerty allows towing but theyre coming in at least double the rate i already had. In two years or so i plan on having a tow-capable DD so this is really only a temporary problem, but i still wanted to tow with this thing just because thats what its made to do and it would be fun!

Darren the agreed value policy on my camaro (which i was also going to use on this truck) is through a regular company but its defined as collector. I have unlimited miles but im not supposed to take it to work or school and i need indoor storage.. That was the only reason i asked about towing, other than those small caveats the policy has been fairly unlimited.

Definitely less expensive: I just paid my annual and it was $488 for both vehicles with a combined agreed value of $65k.

I will never switch my classic insurance after how well Hagerty treated me after our little incident.

Yes but with what restrictions do you have on your cars?

I have NONE. I can drive it everyday, everywhere, all year long. Granted they are making the assumption that I am not driving it in the winter, which I am not.

With the exception of DD there are no restrictions other than I can not intentionally put the vehicles in harms way IE: No driving in snow storms.
