Some good find there Gary, not sure if any are worth a roadtrip but if they were local definitely worth a look. The big block short bed could be a lot of fun even though not really what i had in mind.

So it seems like i timed the market very poorly. Im not having any luck at all finding one of these now that gas is cheap. Lots of underwhelming trucks and/or junk creeping into the 6k range now, which last year would have easily bought a pretty nice truck. ive yet to even look at anything in person since i started my search in january. There was a clean K20 for $5800 in ohio i was hoping to buy this weekend but there were about 6 other people interested so it already sold. Thinking about picking up a beater cherokee for the season since those are cheap and much easier to come by and i can always dump it if i find a truck.

                  Damn,

I was looking forward to this thread. I am in the same market looking for something to have fun on the weekends with. I haven't had much luck finding anything worth it though just like you Joel.

Drove past a '77ish K5 Blazer that was for sale today. Slightly lifted (maybe 4"), bigger wheels/tires, yellow and white, white topper, for $7500 on the windshield. Looked pretty clean going past at 45 mph.

But seriously, Joel, I think you can find what you want for the price you want, but it just won't be in Michigan...

Pretty much Joel. I am in the same boat though as I don't think I'm in it for the current market prices.

Pretty sure I saw that one listed on craigslist actually and the interior was really trashed.

And i agree about going out of state but i have no experience with that and i dont like the thought of buying a 30 year old truck sight unseen or loading up a truck and trailer to turn around and come back home. Ive got a buddy in kansas city thats been looking for me out there but hasnt been much better than here.
