Id REALLY like to get it down to 5500. But I bet he would take 6. I sent him a text asking for some interior pics.

Id prefer a manual but id take an auto for the right price. A member already went and checked it out. Has some rust that was attempted to be fix as well as some other issues.

Are you planning on a trans rebuild? While I agree that 5.3's are cheap and thus the motor wouldn't scare me on that car, keep in mind everything else on the car has 158k miles on it too. The trans will probably need some work by that point along with the rearend unless you're going aftermarket right off the bat.

I'm not sure on my exact goals.

Although it does have 158k on it, it does make up on other areas. Being an 01 ss, ls6 intake and oem ss spoiler and hood. All on my eventually want list, it softens the blow later.

Rearend I'll be leaving until it explodes. I have had 2 other cars that I hit some hard 1st to 2nd shifts on drag radials and not have an issue. Although I know I'll be pressing my luck.

I feel with my 'want' list I'll have to take a hit somewhere either price, trans or miles. I know it'll be hard (not impossible) to find an M6, ttop, under 6k and under 100k miles (or close to it).

I think i have it narrowed down between 2 cars.

As i said in the previous post, I believe it will be tough for me to get exactly what I would like.

Assuming this guy's friend doesn't buy this one come Monday, Nick ( white97z28 ) and I will be going to check it out.
http://columbus.craigslist.org/cto/4834465313.html

Pros: beautiful color, already has a nice set of wheels. Can drive it as is for awhile. Has some mods I could sell after the turbo kit goes on. Hits all of my 'wants' other than the mileage.
Cons: higher miles, although it doesn't have that many, its getting up there, as Jim said everything is going to have some wear and tear on it. COLOR, although its BEAUTIFUL, I was hoping to get away from a high maintenance color. Carfax said it had 7 owners

Now, for the tough decision. My old car just happen to come up on craigslist. People know I can cave when it comes to buying my old car
http://clarksville.craigslist.org/cto/4821909906.html

Pros: the guy just put a set of heads, cam and an intake on it. I would assume a fast intake as I already put an LS6 on it back in the day, he didn't seem to know tho (?).... Already has 10 spokes, tons of bolt ons i could sell. Less miles around 130k.

Cons: its my old car, i know some of the quirks it had. although most may have gotten worse or fixed being at least 6 owners since I owned it Also being its an 8 hour drive and the guy said he was pretty firm on his 7k. (1k over my budget)

Suggestions? Keep looking?

I like em both too, but I'm feeling the '01. My vote is to buy and drive the heck out of it. Buy or build (as $ permits) an lq4/9 for the turbo

hate to say it but I would go for your old car. having something back that you had before just feels right.

In all honestly whichever 6 speed is the most legit. Trans rebuilds are pricy.

Personally based on looks I would much rather have your old car as well. At least you already know the quirks of it so you know what to expect or what to fix.

Buy your old car back. Hell, I'd give you more money for the boot and ring tomorrow so you could get it for sure!
Your old one looks better anyways.
