I think a lot of LPP's grief was that they made the headers to hug the car as much as possible. The first time I installed the LPP headers I had a ton of clearance. Then I spun the bearings and had to tear it all apart. When I put the engine back together, I had no clearance against the kframe. Only thing I can think of was the brand new poly mounts had sagged a bit or there's really that much "wiggle room" each time the headers are installed.

Still, all three sets i did were no where even reasonably close to clearing the steering shaft.

Sorry to derail your thread jonny, hopefully the feedback is useful.

Really? Why would LPP make a better design and then shit can it?

The LPPs i installed were nothing like the ones kyle posted. Biggest giveaway is the pacesetter style isnt "stepped." the design everyone has trouble with is.

I thought Kyle said he got a set before lpp stopped making them?

on another note, I don't have many bad things to say about my stainless OBX LTs

This is the LPP style that was sold under many different names and has the fitament issues. The other giveaway is the collectors dont run parallel on these... Drivers side kicks out to the side of the car.

Maybe they finally got that design right after X revisions... Even google image searching i can find variations in the design.

No fitment issues here, I must have gotten a good set my only complaint is the 3.5" collector.

They were stainless and were cheaper than every ceramic-coated long tube header available for the LT1 ($300), and they were stepped to 1-7/8". Personally, I'd pay a little more for a stainless header that actually fits right, but nowhere near what Kooks is charging for the same thing.

Lol I DON'T have lpps. Mine were the short ran stainless pacesetter ones.(ebay) like Joel mentioned maybe the guy got sued because I pulled off my painted legit pacesetters and these were exactly the same... just stainless. They fit like a glove. I almost sold them this winter but decided to hold on to them. I think I could get some good money for them lol the seller was called like eworldsales. He is gone now though.

                                I dont remember a 3.5" collector?v

Seems like there are so many different versions of that design out itd be hard for Jonny to get any useful data on them. I'll just leave it at this - the non-stepped pacesetter design fits and performs great. The stepped primaries on the other style are probably the major reason they are such a difficult fit. I havent seen any evidence they perform better, so id never buy them. That said, i wont deny that some people probably see that feature on paper and go gaga over it despite the tight fit.
