  • Battery cable

I need to purchase 27' of red 1/0 gauge battery cable, and 19' of red 4 gauge battery cable. I know a lot of people use welding cable, but from what I've read it's not tinned so it will corrode?

I know there are local places that sell cable by the foot, but haven't been able to find any so if anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great. Or if anyone on here is selling any...best price I've found so far is $2.85/foot for both the 1/0 and 4 awg. I found welding cable for much cheaper though...

EDIT: BTW, I live in West Bloomfield, so preferably places around here...Farmington, Pontiac, Troy, Waterford, Redford, Westland, Livonia, Walled Lake, Detroit, etc..

We used welding cable on Doug's 74 car, it's nice wire that's thick and still very flexible.

How does it last in the long run though? Live I said, I've read stuff that said it will corrode over time...

I bought 1/0 at Blowes, I mean Lowes. I haven't the foggiest of ideas as to what I paid. It was that long ago. Any of the big box hardware stores will have it.

No luck at CS3...I'll check out Lowes/Home Depot

EDIT: I asked at Glendale in Farmington when I went in to get another thermostat gasket (somehow the last one got lost) and they don't sell it by the foot. Lowes/Home Depot don't list it online but I'll try calling those places and Mickey Shorr & Car Tunes.

no prob let us know if they have good pricing, there was also a guy or company that has an updated battery cable, it was also 1/0 gauge, I 'll see if I can do a search on here and over at TGO.

I'm going to call them Monday, along with all the other places I've thought of.

If you're talking about Gary at Innovative Wiring, I did buy a bunch of custom stuff from him and all the hardware I need to assemble the rest myself. He charges $2.85/foot for cable (any gauge) I thought I may be able to find it cheaper (especially the 4 gauge) and if I get it locally I'll save a bundle on shipping (I think it's going to weigh about 30 lbs for all the cable I need).
