          • Nope, my fathers project car. I was going to do a LSx "modern" Typhoon with my Jimmy but decided it wasn't worth it.

            • Should be a decent setup for a cruiser (air bags and some suspension upgrades) with a highway gear in the rear. Z06 cam, LS2 valve springs, LS1 intake, 4L60E. This car is being built for one reason - knock one item off my fathers bucket list. He wants to take the old Route 66 out west until he hits ocean. I think we can get the 4000+ pound pig to move alright and hold close to 20mpg average.

              • So irritated right now....broke the magnet for my trans into three pieces I will be disassembling all the guts once again for a cleaning, but overall the trans feels MUCH better. I draped a white towel over the thing and had to walked away

                Now, where to find a replacement magnet?

                • maybe probuilt ha one you can buy seperate, otherwise junkyard? pull one out of a tranny there?

                  • I have been looking around, haven't found one specifically for the T5 but I think a magnet from a NP231 transfer case will work. I sent an email to Midwest Trans, they have been treating me well the past week

                    • man that bites,hope u find a magnet soon, u would think most of the tranny shops would have one,if u cant find one let me know,maybe i can locate u one close,im less than an hour from you.yeah maybe that magnet from the np231 would work,seems there pretty close.

                      • I'm going to do some more research tomorrow after work. I'll get ID/OD dimensions as well as thickness. Doesn't have to be spot on, just close enough as to fit into the cavity. I'll post what I find and will be calling around on Monday.

                        • Can't sleep...switching between 1st and 2nd shift during the week sucks!

                          Anyway, I went out and measured it. OD-1 3/4" ID-3/4" H-1/4" (1.768, .752, and .255 if you want to be specific )

                          • I bought a NP246 magnet on ebay for 10 bucks. This is what happens when I cannot get any shuteye....

                            On a good note, the test assembly of the main shaft and the countershaft installation both hinted towards a nice final product.

                              • Hopefully I will have the T5 back in by the end of this week and have the car moving on its own power again. After that the plan is - finish the floor pan, paint, interior, and new top.

                                This is the way the Impala sits right now. Need to get the last few parts for the 5.3, some adapter plates, and the correct V8 mounts for the frame. The car needs new pans and rear quarters, as well as a couple small patches in the trunk pan. Keeping it black with the red/white interior which is in incredible shape for being 52 years old.
