Its no problem Man, I cant afford to befriend anyone who knows about these carsOriginally posted by prorac1 View PostYeah, thats pretty much me, lol. Ok, Ok, you guys are right, I came off a little harsh, Im sorry. Heres my point. A LOT of people get a LT1 car, take it to a mechanic, and get a tune up done. A tune up on an LT1 can be a daunting task for a newbie. The problem is, is that you usually dont get a gm opti, good wires, and plugs and a GOOD waterpump for $900 dollars. If the mechanic used a cheaper rebuilt version of the opti, it might last 10,000 miles, it might last 10 miles. Thats the problem. Than you tear into your car when you start working on it your self and find all the OTHER stuff that he MESSED up and didnt tell you about. Its a slippery slope that ive seen A LOT of people slip down, and it was just a "here we go again" situation for me. Again, sorry for coming off like a prick, lol. Eric L
I understand I'll take a little ribbing for being new to all of this but I'm going to keep at it and learn everything I can so someday I can help a "New Guy" on here. Its been a week and a half and I still dont have it back
!! If its not done by Friday Im picking it up and going "All In" on the thing myself this weekend. Trial by Fire I guess. Im just starting to think he doesnt know what he's doing either, but I'm paying him to not know and I can "not know" for free lol
LT1's are like Stonehenge, Total Mystery, But I'm sure I'll figure it out........

an opti swap is only a pain in the ass in perspective against what it normally takes to change a distributor - maybe 15 minutes. Changing an opti is bit of a project but its not like its a header install or anything.
And remember before you spend almost 1k on an opti and a tune-up, you could spend a couple hundred more and convert entirely to an LS1 ignition and computer and never have any problems again
