had 94 TA and when opti was going the second time sold it and upgraded to the 2001 TA(LS1).well you said you paid 3000 and put 1000 in so car was 4000 and if bluebook is 5000 your still below value.Well good luck and welcome to site!!!

i bought my motor to upgrade my v6, well motor in the car turned over fired up pulled outta the garage..... that is all she wrote, messed around for days, snapped the starter, my cousine works for a dealer ship, he trailerd it home then found.....OPTI was bad, so i beat all of you guys lol drove it 10 feet after 2 days of engine swap.

well as some of the guys will tell you at that point i didnt stop, just kept going, its fun.

Thanks for all the welcomes and support everyone. I wish I had it back today for the Telegraph Cruise!!!! Oh Well, guess I'll shoot for Woodward lol. I want the love/hate relationship to start, I went by the shop yesterday and he started it up inside and my god did it sound awesome!! It almost made it worse to go see it and hear it knowing I wasn't leaving with it. The upside is it will run like new when I get it back! Going nuts, COME ON MONDAY. Thanks again to all of you, I look forward to learning and working on my own car, I wouldn't even attempt it if I hadn't found this site with so many good people to lean on for help, tips, and advice.

Welcome to the site. I just wonder, who would buy a 16 year old car, (dont feel bad, your not the only one bro) and not do thier own work? Its a 16 year old car, its a 16 year old sports car. Things are bound to break. Its not fun or easy to work on, so everything cost a bundle to have done. Your best bet will either be to sell it and buy another mustang, or learn to do your own wrenching. Not trying to be a prick, just realistic. Eric L

all cars are cheaper to work on if you do the work yourself!!!

its just a 350 not hard to work with nore is it expinsive to replace stuff, most car shops tell you its more #1 they wanna make cash
#2 the charge $95 an hour. #3 to do that waork yourself would have been 300 with all new stuff while under the car, shouldnt have to wory about it now for awhile, and next time just holler.

Im not saying a Mustang is cheaper, im just saying that the LT1 is a very querky, normally owner involved car. I have a couple of friends that have them as daily drivers and have learned to hate them, lol. Very querky cars, yeah, lol, querky, lol. Eric L

That's no way to welcome someone to the hobby. Most people don't start working on the cars themselves unless they already have experience wrenching or they find sites like this and get comfortable reading and learning on how to do it. Since he just bought the car he probably wasn't comfortable or doesn't have the tools (yet ). Having just bought the car I don't blame him at all for taking it to the shop. And really - $900 for all the parts and labor isn't bad at all considering the optispark is almost half of that cost. He'd only be saving a couple hundred doing the labor himself but he's saving himself tons of busted knuckles and aggravation paying for it to be done.

but thats all the fun, knowing the scar is from somthing you love (or hate) lol, some days i hate that crap, but when some one says hey very nice sounding car, looks great, makes it all worth it.

The only way $850 would be a good buy for an opti would be with a dynaspark, but I won't add fuel to an already hot burning fire. Yeah, it could've been quicker had some of us known about it, but welcome anyway. Once she's up to par, you'll enjoy the feel of it. I believe the wheelbase is a touch longer than 'Stangs, making a more stabile feel. Also, I find that both my F's enjoy a good blood sacrafice. LOL!
