Here is another SS/RS I have been talking to the owner but I am not sure if this is a real deal you guys would know better

    thanks
That car just seems too "goofed around with" for my liking. From what I can infer about you, you are looking for a nice condition, all original/restored to original, low mile car. That one has had too much work done on it for my comfort.

And it's an automatic...something you didn't originally want.

And #2, it would take another $10K to bring the pace car back correctly...

True I do want a manual. If I got a auto I would want to change it over to a manual and I would assume that is botching up the car

How much would a pace car bring if he invested the 10k into it? Would it be worth more than the investment (car + 10k)?

i dont think i am going to get that one as i would be ripping out the auto trans and putting in a manual . But i do think for someone that knows cars it might be worth looking at. i do have underneath pics and it is clean.

You're kind of rolling the dice as I don't think the market has bottomed out yet.

A #2 numbers-matching 350-auto 1969 Pace Car "sells" for $40-50K right now, but it's the least desireable 69 PC combo (if such a term can be applied to these cars)...probably less by December...and we'll have to see what spring brings.

The owner probably has this one priced right, and knows it won't be a $60K car when done...most of these are being squirreled away for a better market.

And $10K to redo it may be a bit low...I just did a quick search, and just a set of new re-popped front seats go for $1500 alone.

The sad part is that it's a very nice car now...do YOU want to be the one to sink a boatload of cash into it for a questionable return on investment?

If you're buying it for the long haul, go for it...bad car to try to flip IMHO...

Not to sidetrack here, but what's a solid complete 69 hardtop driver considered a good deal in this market?

"Solid" is a key term here...I'll assume that you mean good floors and trunk...call it an Arizona car that needs a resto...

$10-13K for a non-matching number small block driver is what they're "selling" for if you take some time looking for one.

The sad part is that I was friends with a guy in GR that 12 years ago sold a (near) spotless 69 RS Hugger Orange Camaro (350 auto...white hockey stripe) for $9500.

And this is why I'm staying optimistic with collector vehicles...the market is not completely collapsing...the entry level cars are still carrying some value (a good sign)...it's the big, high ticket cars that are taking a major hit right now.

Example...the record setting, documented, drag car, LS6 Chevelle convertible that sold at BJ two years ago for 1.2 million just recrossed the blocks at $295K...but a 1970 #2 LS5 454SS Chevelle is holding steady in the low to mid 30s.

Send a PM over to redfbird99 - he had his car shipped to him from the south. They were surprisingly fast and I don't think cost that much either.
