its really not that hard to drop the tank. in the time it takes people the cut the trap door i could have had my tank out and back in. but now i dont have a reason so since i went to an external fuel pump

I'm sure the people who are against the trap door method would think differently if they put the car back together and realize a wire got pinched or something didn't go together right and they gotta re-drop the tank to do it all over again. Nah, I'd rather just pop the cover off the trap door and have instant access to my fuel pump any day.

That said though, I definitely agree with James about the fuel pressure and making sure you have a good solution rather than just hose clamps and rubber hose.

I was against cutting trap door when the pump went out on B's car. His up to that point was a daily driver and getting suspention bolts loose was not to my liking. So did the trap door, got sheet metal at home depot. after that I did a friends car then I had to change mine and also did it.
Myth: cutting drops value.... no one knows it you do good job and screw plate back over hole with RTV to seal it.
Fact: far less time than dropping tank.
If I had a 3rd gen I would do it and flair the line and install a union.
GM should have designed an access panel in the car.

your correct unless the suspention bolts have never been touched and its been a daily drive. Even with PB we had to cut some of then with a sawsall.

It's easy you just gotta get the tank sumped, then mount a fuel pump close to the tank and in a Safe spot. Then hook up your lines to it then done!

                    It's really simple

It's a TPI. That being said THANKS for the heads up about the 46 baseline psi. I would be mortified if my car turned into a fireball. What will I need to use a union, etc?

trust me on this check if your tank is one or two pieces before you decide to drop the tank otherwise you have to cut the filler neck or take out the rear.

I'm not dropping the tank. I'm using the trap door that was already in place. Thanks for the concern though.

NO you Don't. Mine has a one piece filler and I have had it out several times. Its true its not as easy as the 2 piece filler, but it will still come out in one piece with out taking the rear out.
