Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

Third gens are more of a reason to cut up. But if it doesn't benefit you because the fuel system is different than no point. 3rd gens are far from a collectors item.
i believe with any person a car has value according to what it is, 4th gens arent valueable to some people others dont like 2nd gens, some dont like 5ths, or 1st, or thirds. what doesnt make sense is that even though they all bring this site together theres still arguemnet over which is better. just some food for thought there
you dont necessarily need a full 360 roatation, ive done it on water heaters with multiple line next to each other and could only get a 180-210 degree roatation out of it, it just takes a little extra effort to make up for the lost amount of rotation but doable i think
it would be very hard, almost imposible to do it with a tube cutter. Other wise It would be the best idea.

I wouldnt personally hesitate in doing it again. When I did it the car was my DD so I needed the car fixed asap, now my new car is a second car/toy so I might drop the tank, only because I would also drop the tank for other reason's upgrades and cleaning. But if I needed just to replace the pump, I would do the trap door again.
Come on darren don't hack up the new one. It's only like 8 bolts if that to drop the tank. Plus drop it once add your sump and never again do you have to take it out lol. Jk but it's deff what I'm Gunna do when I get bored some weekend. Put the t56 in last weekend and LOVE IT! maybe a sump is do for this weekend.
Well I'm thinking of just cutting the lines after I release the pressure through the regulator. Then use some hose to reconnect when I'm done, with some worm gears obviously. I'm tired of it acting up and it is my daily driver. I can't afford for it to die and not start back up on the way to work. I've been there for just over a month and haven't missed a day, I don't want to start now. My father said he doesn't want to drop the tank since the door is already there and I agree with him. Just waiting for the weekend so I can get the old pump out and the new one in. Then I can put some sheet metal over the cut out area, some self tapping screws, and some sound-deadener back over it and It won't sound like it was ever there. Thanks for the Advice guys. I will try the plumbing cutters, but if I cannot make a complete rotation, I will be forced to snip them and re-round the ends.
By the way, I don't plan on ever selling my z28 so I don't care if it depletes the value. It is worth more than money to me by being my first car. I still to this day couldn't be happier in the vehicle my parents chose for me for my first car.
Thanks to all who've taken the time to give the advice.
just cut the lines, I did it and it was perfectly fine, no issues whatsoever. Cover the door back up put the carpet back and forget about it, no one will ever know.

That's what I'm aiming to do. I don't think anyone will ever see under my carpet anyway. So I'm not worried about it. Thanks for the info.
If the trap door is already cut there then, yeah it makes sense to do it that way. Is your car a TPI or TBI? If it's a TPI you really should flare the lines after you cut them and use tube nuts and a union. TPI's run a base pressure of 46psi which is too much for hose clamps. It's a fireball waiting to happen. TBI's on the other hand I believe run in the ballpark of 15-16PSI so its not as big of a deal.
