82 Camaro Radiator Fit Issue

Working on a 82 Camaro Berlinetta 2.8L originally equipped car.

Trying to swap in a Direct Fit Summit Racing SUM-380455 Radiator - which is similar to Be Cool's dimensions.

Radiator is too wide. Will not fit between the radiator support metal shrouds. When tipped into position, it will not sit flat, and the lower inlet hose hits the frame.
Called Summit - they are baffled - don't know what to recommend as it's actually slightly smaller than the BeCool radiator. No known cases of fitment problems.
We paid $289 for this "Direct Fit" radiator, and it's the furthest from direct fit.
30.625" wide
18.5" high

Are you supposed to cut out the radiator support shrouds to get this to fit??
Any tips?

Or is everyone running the original production radiator from the 1980s and never had to change theirs?

What did the original radiator measure? Maybe the core support was changed because of accident.

I've changed mine, but I just running a 3 core factory replacement.

Unfortunately this car came without a radiator. Everything from what we can tell was not hit in the front. Original fenders, original front clip.
I will get some measurements and possibly some photos.

I swapped mine out in my 1992 as well but like Gary I did a factory replacement from Auto Zone it was in and out in no problems. A picture of the issue your having would help!

did my brothers, swapped a replacement from the local Murray's not a problem

I'm running a big Griffin, it's a "factory replacement" but it's much thicker than stock. Got it to fit without major mods. I installed a Summit brand direct fit in a 89 RS and it fit like crap..got it to work without cutting, just had to make a spacer for the top support.

I'm running a 31" Afco universal circle track radiator. I had to modify the bottom radiator shelf and make a new upper mount. I also had to move the inner frame wall in about 3/8" on the pass. side to get the lower hose to clear as you stated to get it to fit properly.

theres a guy on thirdgen who bought the same radiator, he had to do some cutting and welding even though its supposedly the same size as the stock ones
