No right or wrong answer. I bought an aluminum one from a member here, but have not put it in the car yet. It's usually a modest investment ($150 give or take), but the benefit is slight. If it's not needed right now, I'd focus on other things that help to gt you back on the road faster. It's easy to do later.

Very true. I'll do that mod later. As for exhaust, I purchased a Y pipe with 2.5" dual inlets, and 3" single out, a magnaflow 54959 hiflow cat (dont want it to smell much), and the usual magnaflow 12267 exhaust with 3" single offset inlet, and dual 2.5" outs. I know... it's a typical/common F body exhaust setup. Nothing special like the higher end stuff like borlas, texas speed, etc, but it should hold up well for my 400hp engine build.

I just removed the old LO3 and tired 700r4 today in 100 degree temperature. I cant believe TBI has so many damn cables! Haha! Hopefully by next week, i can send out my 350 to a friend's machine shop to get thjngs rolling. In the mean time, i'm just going to sweeten and beautify the bay and undercarriage.

Sun Valley area in southern CA. Quite a ways from me, but well worth it. I still haven't had time to drop off the engine and parts, but i'm still hacking away at the Camaro. The engine bay should be ready for primer and paint by Thursday.

Good that you have a place you know you can trust.

I need to send my heads out to someone, but just not sure who to use. A buddy of mine up around Frankenmuth raced for about 30 years...I'll see who he suggests. I think you're guy is a little too far away for me!

Believe me. My friend and i have been jipped many times when we were growing up, so i know it's very hard ti find a reputable, honest person now-a-days.

As for the carb hacarsince i will be keeping the ac unit, i was planning on buying a dual snorkel air intake system from a late 70s early 80s L81. I was reading that they have very wide open snorkes, but at almost $200, i might as well buy a low pro Spectre unit, like a 98999 or a 9824. I found a Spectre 9849 with a 4" opening for $90, but it's a single snorkel unit, and i dont know if that'll be enough air for my setup.

I love a factory dual snorkel. I have one for mine when the time comes, as a matter of fact. So that would always get my vote.

Yes! Believe me! If i had more time, i'd fab the stock RS air intake to a dual with 4" stove pipes. I like the red top for some reason. Hmmmm.... I might put my MIG to work.

Just updating on my progress. I decided to purchase the L81 dual snorkel air cleaner instead of fabbing my own, plus purchased a used 91-92 z28 grill. Also, my buddy is a bit backed up at his shop, so i'll have to wait another week or 2 to drop off my engine. I'm also prepping my spindles so they can be sent to Scott at bigbrake upgrades to install my LS1 front brake assembly. I'm presently rebuilding my front and rear LS1 calipers at the moment. Body work and paint are going to have to wait....

LS brake upgrade. Sweet! I need to do that as well. I have some front calipers, and rears. Spare knuckles for the front to modify as well. So I'm starting to piece it together.

Would love to see some pics of that coming together.

Yes! I heard LS1 brakes are more than enough of a brake, and an inexpensive upgrade, so I bought them 2yrs ago. Hope I have enough time to finish them up tomorrow. I'll take some pics as well. I have to do an Item checklist again. My back yard is full of parts.

Used to be a member here (Darren I think) that had a white Camaro 3rd gen with LS brakes. He had nothing but good things to say about the upgrade.

I bought my front calipers from a member here some years back. They got a banged up in shipping (powder coated red), but should be usable. I picked up a 4th gen rear with 3.42:1 gears, Zexel Torsen diff, LS rear brakes, park brake cables, and a Trick Flow girdle diff cover. I have a spare 3rd gen housing, so I just need to get it cleaned up, and buy a set of '91-'92 28 spline axles form Rock Auto, and I can swap all of that 4th gen goodness into my car.
