I've been real busy doing some renovations to my house to accommodate my parents, but I finally had time to slightly clean the LS1 calipers before i take them apart and rebuild them. As for the axles Dave, message me your address and i'll send them to you. All i'm asking for is the price for shipping. Just barely got the fuel tank out last night. Pulled out the dead tbi pump. I'm planning on just putting in 3/8" stainless steel piping with some compression fittings, plus braze the fuel strainer at an angle. I just removed the old fuel from the tank, cleaned it, and it's now ready to accept my new fuel sender. Last night, I just finished my pathetic attempt for a pick up unit. I did a small compression checkon the unit and was locked tight! I just dont know what to do with the tbi connectors. I read somewhere in tgo to just leave it alone since it's useless for the external carb fuel pump.

Hmmm....never planned on switching to a carb, so I never looked into it.
Is that your original sending unit? If so, that looks super clean for some 30 years old. Inside of the tank must be equally as nice.

Thanks Dave. I just created a paypal account and transferred the money.
As for the progress, i just found out that one of its previous owners tried doing a trap door to remove the fuel sending unit. Crap... no wonder it smelled like gas all this time! They did a crappy job too, so down i go into this rabbit hole.

I also removed the stock 3 piece rear lip since bought a z28 high rise rear spoiler. It's up for grabs if anyone wants it.

Trap door...ugh. I'm not a fan when poorly done. Just too much that can go wrong. As a Paramedic, I'm sure you seen many of the kind of rear end accidents that would make you NOT want a hacked floor above the tank.

If I found that, I'd head to a salvage yard and A) buy a section of floor from a car that has not been modified to weld into your car, or B) find a vehicle with a factory access hole and cover, and cut that section of floor out to weld into your car. Plan C) would be to buy something new meant for this purpose, like this one.

Exactly. If i only had more time to check that out. Honestly, I'm debating if i should put the whole project on hold, or weld a metal cover there since i'm this far, but that rear area is a huge crumple zone. Weakening that area. I might as well just put a salvage title on it! I need a week on this to see if i can find another camaro. I'll keep those 3 options in mind.

That portion of the floor has no reinforcements and would not be something I would consider (as an automotive body engineer by profession) to be a loss of structure. If anything it's just keeping fumes out of the interior that's the issue, but if you do it right with a nice bead of RTV all the way around - and then driving the screws through the RTV so those too are sealed, you'll be good to go.Gone but not forgotten: 1986 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z
