        • I started pulling the motor apart. Got everything out except the crank and pistons. Man this engine was nice inside. Excellent condition.

          • Finished breaking the engine down, and as a bonus, I took the pistons off the rods!
My cutters showed up today for my port work too

            • Made a deal to get the hood fixed and painted. Gotta do some airline work for a guy that owns a shop.

              • So, due to overtime things have ground to a halt for now. I'll get back to work soon.

                • Well, at least there will be more money to spend on it.

                    • Well, cleaned the pistons and rods today. Priced out getting the block cleaned and new cam bearings installed.
I'm now at that place I didn't want to be at. I could stop right here and reassemble it use the old bearings, and rings. New cam. Etc. But if I get the crank polished then it needs to be measured for the new bearings. So I might as well put in new rings too. S.o.b......what happened to my budget build?

                      • It's always been a slippery slope. The "while I'm in here" line of thinking will drain your bank account.

                        • Can I get an AMEN! Well I decided to clean the block , new cam bearings, have the crank polished, new bearings. I'm torn on the oil pump. I may have gols1go help me shim the old one. It's functional.
I just need to get the stuff over to the shops to get them started on things.
On a different topic. My porting tools are all here now so I can start that job anytime I want.

                          • Block and crank were dropped off at their respective machine shops. The block is getting cleaned, new cam bearings installed and painted pontiac blue. ( I'll do a quick ball hone to it before I wash it down for reassembly). The crank is getting cleaned and polished.
Also the rest of my porting outfit showed up. I'm torn. I could port my 706 heads or try to find something else. These are supposed to be OK ported except for the cracking tendency. So.....yeah.. I dunno.....
