Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!
If you have any problems with the registration process or your account login, please contact us!
Well these are just 706 heads. I'm probably going to go with them unless I find a cheap set, and that's not likely to happen. It'll be good experience. I've done a bunch of research, watched videos. It'll get done.
The spark plug thing is from over tightening them when they are put in. The heat and pressure tends tu fuse the threads together. They just need to be tight enough to seal.
Well, block and crank are home, no pics yet, to cold out. I stayed everything down with a mineral spirits/ oil concoction to keep them from rusting. I might start tearing the heads down tonight. So I can get the porting going.
Not sure if I mentioned it before, but it's worth saying again. Check to see if those heads were poured by Castech. Look for a symbol that resembles a battery (1 in photo) and if so, they are known to crack (2 in photo) and leak coolant into the oil. castech.jpg
Yes they are castecs. Thus is why I am somewhat reluctant to use them. But they aren't cracked now. And they have 90 k on them. Unless I can find some reasonably priced heads I'm going to run them.
862's are home, currently soaking in some purple cleaner. I need to make an adapter for my spring compresser. Welds came out super.
Rings and bearings are here too. The guy I got the heads from gave me a set of bolts for the heads but they don't apear to be correct. The lengths are all different.
I corrupted him and brought him here to this site. I think his user name is 99 Anthony. Young man's got a nice bird he's planning to turbo. Anyways thanks man and welcome aboard!

I did a conservative port match. Opened up the bowls, cleaned them up a ton, blended them into the seats. Bullet shaped the valve guide bosses. Then blended everything together.I also filed out the notches I had filled with weld. They came out good enough to run....but I'm probably going to have the heads decked anyways.
