Currently available options for stock idle/sleeper "big" cam? Dynos/Reviews?

I'd like to add a camshaft to my current build list for this winter, however I don't want anything that sounds meaty. Just stock, I want a basically stock idle. Loud is fine, choppy lope is what I want to avoid.

Every thread I find has plenty of cam options listed, unfortunately 1/2-3/4 of everything on the list is discontinued or the company is no longer in business. And as much as I enjoy finding used parts cheap, i'd like to be able to call and speak to the company and have customer service along with the camshaft purchase.

I don't mind losing some low end power, I don't mind having to rev it a bit higher. I just want a similar to stock idle. Going to have a fairly loose convertor in front of it regardless.

Current off the shelf piece i've found is the LPE GT2-3, looks like it makes a bit of power and with the idle i'm after. From the looks of the dynos however, I wonder if I wouldn't get similar power out of an OEM '02+ LS6 camshaft when revving it out a bit. Opinions there please.

If I am going through the trouble and cost, honestly, I feel I would want a bit more power than either of those provide. Which is why i'm asking if there is anything "more aggressive" that fits the bill OTS or can be made.

I know custom is always an option, anybody have recommendations there? From where? Anyone have a custom grind with the same/similar goals as me? Any places local I should speak with/purchase from?

I know this has been gone over ad nauseum, just couldn't find anything with up to date info.

Any cam that is going to give you an idle without a lope, is going to be a pretty mild cam and will most likely give you more low end power, not less.

Most all cam manufacturers will have a tech line you can call with someone knowledgeable that can help you with what your looking for.

My 224r has a slight lope but still makes great horsepower. easy to dd too.

First thing we need to know is what other mods does your car have?

A full exhaust with muffler makes my 224 224 112 sound tame, throw true duals on it and it sounds much more wicked than it is.

Cats quieted it down quite a bit too.

Car is basically stock right now.

Mild build this winter sorting suspension and basic bolt ons.

1 7/8 headers, no cats, into a Huron Speed True Duals for the exhaust. Otherwise stock engine with ls6 intake.

^what Nate said. I get all kinds of people thinking i have some kind of nasty solid roller stroker in my car when in reality ive got a mild hydraulic roller with 3" duals and a 700 idle. It was a lot milder through the SLP 20TL i had before but the duals also woke it up considerably.

That's the point however. I don't mind if it's loud. But I want it to sound like nothing. Which is why I'm after something with a stock unassuming idle.

I don't want it to sound amazing. I just want it to work well.

does AI make cams for lsx? ive been impressed with their stuff, otherwise didnt alot of people start the trend of running those trex and raptor cams or something that had decent street manners and just sounded wicked with some hp gains but it wasnt the best thing out there?

Just seeing if there were any camshafts available like the old school TR cheaTR cams available that I missed in my research.

Lope doesn't have to do directly with size, it has to do with overlap. I recommend giving Martin at Tick Performance a call and discussing with him what you have done, what you want, and he will get something spec'd to do exactly what you want!
