  • What do I do with my car?

Traded my 00 grand am gt for this car. Pretty much everyone is telling me it spun a rod bearing. If it ends up being true, what would you do? See pics (will add soon)and vid and vote.

Nope my dd is a 95 auto V6 lol, wifey says I have to sell one, but if I tell her I'm keeping the maroon one I don't have to sell my dd until it's fixed. LSX swap is $2k ish right? Might take me 2-3 to save that kind of coin.

Why not just rebuild this one? New one would cost add much as a LS swap right?

I love that MMM. That being said, I don't know what all it takes to swap from a v6 to v8 and what parts are actually useable (k member, brakes, etc)
Youll need at least a 5.3, 5.7 or 6.0 with the harness, not sure if you can use your trans or not, what interior wiring will need to be replaced (cluster?) plus you will need all of the accessories as well. Time for a second job Gotta support this addiction somehow

I'd swap in a complete 3.8, not worth the downtime of a rebuild if you just want a stock V6.

MMM? I'll research the swap, and my Lord this is an expansive addiction. If I do the swap I'll call the rod knock a blessing in disguise lol.

Rebuild that motor or find a junkyard 3.8. You will have thousands into a swap and get nickel and dimmed to death!

Looks like a nice car, find a low miles 6 cylinder and get it back on the road.

Monterey maroon metallic. Its the color of the car.

Thats the way it works! Break stuff, its just a reason to make it better and faster

Replace with a supercharged 3.8 out of a gtp or Regal gs. I actually have no idea if that's even:

                          a. Possible
                          b. Difficult if it is possible
                          c. Worth it if it's possible and not any more difficult that a n/a 3.8 swap

It seemed like a good idea in my head.

Find a 3.8, have someone swap it.

Supercharger has been done before, not easy and requires a good tig welder.

You cannot use your manual transmission with a GenIII engine. At least 2500 to swap in an auto setup, 4500 or more for manual 6 speed.

I think my friend still has his 3.8 from his 02 after he did an LS swap. Has about 38k on it. What it worth to you and I will ask him about it?
