    I thought about that but thats boring. EVERY LT1 looks the same. Im thinking about doing a solid 1/4" piece of aluminum plate and polishing it and having something CNCd on it like a 30th anniversary SS logo or something. Just something differant. Eric L

        A bead of weld around the top plate seems pretty obvious to me. Even if you smoothed it in a trained eye would be hard to fool.

          lol true.

          Eric - why did you cut the top off in the first place if you didnt physically raise the runners with added material? You just did TB opening area and the ports correct?

                Cutting the top off was easy. And it allowed me to work the devider wall a lot more. Was it as nescessary as I originally thought it would be, I cant lie, no, not really. It helped, but wasnt nescessary. It was easy enough to do, and I learned that I dont have to do it next time, lol. I plan on beveling the edge of the new top piece and the top edge of the intake as to set the weld in a little bit. That way I can smooth the weld and powdercoat the intake and it would appear seamless. I picked up my plate aluminum today so I have to sculpt that to the intake and get it ready to weld on. Im considering getting some CNC work done on the plate top, we will see where that goes. I would like to powdercoat the intake red and leave the top plate polished. Normally I would think it would look goofy, but with the polished fuel rail deviding the intake top plate from the rest of it, I think it will work well. Again, we will have to see. Eric L

                  I did at first consider raising all the runners by welding the ports. But after porting as far as I did, I dont know if there would be any signifigant increase in flow by raising them anymore. Just by grinding (without adding any material) it raised the runners substancially. I would guess almost 3/16 of an inch. I think it will be more than enough for what im doing and deffinately better than stock. Unfortunately I doubt if I will ever know if it worked or not. I do know that a stock LT1 intake is purported to flow around 220-230 cfm from the sources I could find on the internet. I would be interesting to find out what mine flows now, but not interesting enough to pay money to do it, lol. We will call it good for now, lol. Eric L

                      Test fitting the new lid on project "why am I doing this again", lol. I did the cutting with a 4.5 inch angle grinder, lol. Damn, im getting good with that thing. I still have a little trimming to do before welding, but were close. Thanks for looking. Eric L

                              Are you going to chamfer the edge to get good weld penetration or just cap off the seam essentially? Just curious

                                The weld is going to be pretty well hidden, so I may just have it welded the way it is. Not sure yet, need to do more research on penetration...............................that didnt sound right....................nevermind. Eric L
