Ive always thought it would be fun to take a beater LT1 car and TOTALLY gut it and see how light you could get it. I wonder if you could get under 3k. Hmmmmm, Im going to have a great running LT1 sitting around this spring, and I have a friend with a 95 v6 firebird, lol. This is WAY to tempting. Only mine wouldnt look near as good as Joels, lol......................................It would be trashy......................real trashy, lol. And its been about 15 years since ive raced at grattan. Eric L

Another update from today: as of just the interior alone I have my hands full with projects. I still need to fabricate seat brackets (ive been trying to track down the right material to make them with), and I also started re-vamping my console today because I figured now would be a good time to do it with the seats out of the way. I started by JB-welding a bunch of plastic seams to hopefully eliminate some creaks and rattles. I also need to make a new gauge pod for it but I didnt want to start that tonight while the JB weld dries. I will be running an oil temp guage which, in my opinion, is an important parameter for the continuous high-RPM conditions of road racing. I'm also attempting to redeem my history of terrible wiring by making this power block that should have simple connection/disconnection of multiple things when removing the console. Here are some pictures:

Very nice - I like the power block. I plan on making a power block like that too when I rewire my dash this winter.- Brian Meissen

Do you need a new rear panels for the trunk area? I noticed your's are all hacked up. A friend of mine went from charcoal to tan (weird, i know...) in his TA and has all his charcoal stuff still.2005 Yamaha R6

Do you think the JB weld will be soft enough to not rattle itself?
Let me know, I definitely need to start doing that to my interior. The combination of stiff suspension, poly engine mount and big subs is making everything come loose.

The JB weld is gluing parts that are otherwise loose together so it can't rattle. In the center console pic, the ash tray pulls out and he JB welded it together so it couldn't rattle.- Brian Meissen

Ah, but I epoxied the center cap on my sub (my MTX) to the outer part, and it made the epoxy rattle. Silicone probably would've been better suited there.Originally posted by meissen View PostThe JB weld is gluing parts that are otherwise loose together so it can't rattle. JB weld might have more give to it than epoxy though, so it'll probably be fine. Maybe I'll just wrap my connections in black electrical tape, or install felt. That should stop any BSR.Gone but not forgotten: 1986 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z
