Looks good! I like that you lined your shift light up with the center of the speedometer needle, did the same thing with my mini shift light except with the tach needle.

I dont think shocks are my issue, ive always been happy with bilsteins. i think its the spring rate on the front springs.Originally posted by Fox Slaughter View PostRamey from UMI suggested I start with my shocks at 6 settings for comfort. I haven't changed them yet but I have taken a round about at about 40 and very little body roll. I need to set them to the Autox settings and go tear on some corners.
thanks! And i wanted to do it in front of the tach needle but the hose clamp wouldnt hold it there because of the blinker stalk box or whatever youd call that bulge on the side of the column.Originally posted by birdie2000 View PostLooks good! Ah yeah, mine was doube-sided tape. I think with the size of that tach/shift light it lends itself better to being in front of the speedo anyway.

yep, i figured this was just as well. Took a pretty long hose clamp though

got 7 of 8 plugs changed tonight. Never started the 8th one, just got distracted on changing the steering shaft which turned out not to be a bolt on swap like id thought.
Hopefully i can get it done so im not weaving my way to grand rapids this weekend with the worn out stocker. Im also going to try swapping the balancer, pretty sure i have a spare.
Two more observations driving the car
1). The new fuel pump and lines seems to have fixed my intermittent cranking (starting) issue ive had ever since doing the cam swap. Not often you get a pleasant surprise like this working on an fbody
2) the tubular torque arm makes the car struggle more with a casual takeoff. Before i could just let the clutch out at a certain point and apparently the stock torque arm was absorbing it. Now it doesnt like that so much and ive had to double-clutch the take-off a couple times since the spec doesnt like a steady slip. I noticed that issue with my car. I went from 700r4 2.73's to T5 with tubular torque arm and 3.42's...always thought I had an issue in the suspension. Maybe not?

I dont think its a bad thing, just a matter of getting used to it. The car is much more solid when i launch it and rip gears now.Originally posted by hoogiesngrinderz View PostI noticed that issue with my car. Sounds like you got just about everything wrapped up that you wanted to!
How about some "completed" pics showing the stance with the new suspension?

Plugs are done and so is the steering shaft. I didnt drive it yet, but it still seems like ive got some excess play in the steering. Likewise the new plugs seemed like they "helped" the vibration problem, but didnt completely solve it... Again thats just going from revving in the garage. Obviously weather isnt cooperating.
Currently working on installing grease fittings on the front sway bar bushings, hopefully it will stop groaning like a beached whale.
Also figured id start on the vacuum gauge and ended up finding a vacuum leak. Tried capping it, but it lowers my idle RPM (already low) and seems to negatively affect throttle response. Im guessing that since air is bypassing the maf (and always has been) capping it is making it run leaner. Im at a cross-road with what to do next. Keep chasing these minor gremlins until everything is fixed, or just swap the thing over to 24x and work the bugs out then. Despite the minor gremlins, the engine runs so f***ing strong i hate to mess with it. Plus I want to drive the car instead of just wrench all the time!-Joel

Update: test drove it today with the new plugs and ls1 steering shaft. Vibration seems somewhat reduced yet still there...i think im just going to not worry about it. Steering shaft: wow what a difference. My car finally isnt weaving all over the road. Even the suspension felt better since i actually felt connected to it now. Overall im pleased, car is very responsive. im going to leave the suspension alone for now i think it is riding better.

Next up: take care of these lights on the dashboard
