Well I changed the coil, although I changed the coil in March when the MSD coil died. I just got back from Michigan Works gonna eat something and then change back to the AC Delco wires. I mean Ryan said he changed the Optispark not to long ago so why would it just suddenly die, if it is that. Could it be the cap and rotor on it?

Also I have all the wiring diagrams from 93 - 02.

    EDIT:

I did both tests Meissen mentioned and both seemed to fail. The DC test I got maybe a 1/3 of a volt with the key on off the ICM, and when I had my mom crank it with AC I didn't even see the meter move to the 1 - 4 volts.

I never touched the opti on that car. The previous owner did. They still dont last forever.

My mistake. Well I am about to change out the AC Delco wires. Could it be a bad ICM? Cause here is a post from ThirdGen.org. "test ICM Ignition Control Module you can take it out and let autozone test it. In my case, the injectors were not pulsing. I had a new ICM. take a test light, ground it, probe both contacts on the injector plug. If you have a steady light, unplug the 4 pin at the base of the ICM and retest. If the light is blinking, injectors pulsing, it means the ICM is whacked. Sure enough, another new ICM and I'm getting fuel."

None of the plugs I pulled look like fuel has been sprayed on them and did not smell like fuel. So could the ICM be whack and not telling the coil to fire or the injectors to pulse?

When did you pull the plugs? After you tried cranking it again or had the car been sitting for awhile? I'd crank the car for 15-20 seconds and then pull a plug and see if it's wet.

The fact that the two tests failed makes it SEEM like it's the optispark, but at the same time the fact that you're saying the spark plug isn't wet (unless it's been sitting for awhile prior to pulling the plug) seems to suggest it's not getting fuel either?

Are you positive the "SECURITY" light isn't on when you're trying to start the car?

Good point, I can't remember exactly when I pulled the plug, I think I was cranking and testing for spark with a spare plug then pulled the plug out of the engine and used it to check for spark. I'll swap out the wires try cranking for 15 - 20 seconds if no start I'll pull the plug and check for fuel.

just dont crank that long all in one shot, thats about all it takes to overheat a starter.

Pretty sure all you have is a BCM/ECM and a PCM.

ICM was for the chiped cars, or the 92 and 93 LT1.

                This may be wrong though.

Did you drive through any water? Does the water pump leak? There cant be more than 20k on that opti, I would hope it would last at least 30k.

Nope car died on a sunny warm day no puddles or nothing wet. I'm pretty sure the coil sits on the ICM. Swapped back to the AC Delco wires, battery seems dead. I get one good crank then just the solenoid clicks, tried jumping the car it cranks fine. Water in battery was low, topped it off. Now I have the car sitting on the charge to crank again. Possible low water in the battery wasn't giving it enough juice to fire the coil?

I know modern cars need ~10v of battery to power the accessories. Yesterday when I was cranking the battery was dropping to around 7v. So I had it on a 2 amp charge. Battery reads 12.4v I turned on headlights and 4 ways and it bounced between 10.9v and 11v.

                  EDIT:

Still no spark, or fuel on the plugs. I cranked it for 20 seconds in 5 intervals and pulled a plug smell it, nothing smells like a plug.

No spark, no injector pulse: Optispark?

Autozone can bench test the ICM. I am thinking about taking the ICM up to Autozone tomorrow and having them bench test it. Since in some reading the ICM controls the spark.

The only fuse I found that was burned was the AIR Pump fuse. I highly doubt this would stop the car from giving injector pulses or spark, but could it?

                  I am currently following this:

I failed to get flashing ground at the injector.

If I have to get a new Optispark there is a guy at LS1Tech called Chandler Motorsports and he has 90 dollar units or 130 dollar units that come with a lifetime warranty. He says he would put his up against any AC/Delco, Delphi, MSD, Accel optispark. Everyone says they are great one guy said his started to miss after 6K and then called Chandler he said ship it back got him a new one and works great.

Does the Optispark also tell the injectors when to fire? I thought they only told the spark plugs when to fire.

According to the site I using for trouble shooting the guy says the optical sensor on the optispark tells the injectors when to pulse.

Well if Ryan would pay for the LS1 ignition swap, now would be a perfect time to do it.
